Meet the Sharpes

Postby werepuppy » Fri Aug 05, 2016 1:36 pm

So. Backstory. I watched Crimson Peak and kind of utterly feel in love. A gothic romance done really well and the sets and costuming were just amazing. So... I realised I wanted to re-create these costumes, in a smaller scale because I am crap with human sized sewing beyond repairs at the moment. So... Meet Thomas Sharpe, and his dear wife Edith.

Image

Tom Hiddleston head + hot toys buck = Thomas Sharpe (obviously). The head is a little darker than the skin-tone and the hands look massive in comparison but I've kind of found that guys hands in 1/6 always look surprisingly big. As it stands though, he looks charming dressed. I will need to get him some shoes, but we're doing well otherwise.

Edith is made from a Made to Move Barbie body, and a Jakks Alice head, as the dress might have made clear. I think when the Disney Store Alice goes on sale (or try to find one cheap on ebay) I will likely pick up one to use that head instead, as it's a better likeness and frankly for some odd reason? The hair on the Jakks head is heavy enough to pull it back from whatever position I put it in. BUT for now, I'm happy. (Yes, I do already have that Alice from the Disney Store, but I like her as Alice, I'll need to get a spare to be Edith)

I'll need to get the Art of book and some fabrics so I can sew stuff - I'm in love with this outfit for Edith. But... yeah. Things to come!

Oh, and as a bonus?

Athena from Tomorrowland is one I've had for a while now. It was a random pick up because I loved how she looked in the other outfit. However, I realised earlier that in her little dress, she did sort of look like she could be a good daughter for Thomas and Edith. So they've adopted her. She's not sure what to make of this, but since she's not exactly the robot from the movie, we'll see what happens.

But... yeah, that's it so far. Will update with any improvements/changes/more photos as we go along.

Neat idea. I think I'm the only one in my family that liked Crimson Peak... :(

Lol, I'm the only one in mine who's seen it, but I really love the movie and the costuming so here's hoping I can re-create some of them

Iwa_Hoshi: The marketing really did make it seem like a scary movie, but gothic romances often are quite sad... However, this Thomas and Edith have a bit of a chance at happiness. I hope.

As long as he doesn't have any siblings joining him. Somehow he always have sibling issues

Okay now I gotta go rummage through Tom Hiddleston's film works to see if that a recurring trend.

Ooh liking the little family you've put together for him, I had no idea that they'd managed to do a short-hair Tom, or that they'd even made Tomorrowland figures

(damn, yeah Tom tends to have the worst luck! Jonathan Pine in the Night Manager was a prime example, though I suppose Henry V is an exception... And I've yet to see Only Lovers Left Alive but I keep meaning to given how Hunger-esque it looks.)
Crazy Mulitverse Crew: Drax, Jareth, Jerome, Elrana Milenkova, The Thin White Duke, Vasily Lupandin, Ramin Aiphos, Theta Sigma, Aiko Koyame, Lord Havelock Vetinari, Dr Nicholas Rush, Anon., Nyta Kinall, Otto Kreiner, That Demon, Sasu, Yaya, Ombre
...reshelling Szesil Markowski and Garan Idasson

You Keep Looking to the Past. You Won't Find Me There

Edith has to remind her husband that the events of Allerdale Hall are behind them now... Also, it's really just a chance for me to show off that I did get hold of the Disney Film Collection Alice face sculpt for Edith. While it's still a bit bigger in comparison to Tom, it does look more realistic and positions a lot better on the made-to-move body.

(The Jakks head has claimed the DS body and has become a rather stunning model type.)

Vetinari: Ah, thank you. I think this is from the first Loki? The one from before the Avengers. They only really made the Athena "figure" (it's a doll) and she's very charming in her blue dress. I wish she had articulated legs that weren't the rubber click ones - the DS rubber click ones tend to break very easily. My poor Tiana is waiting on a new body because of hers breaking. If the made-to-move dolls were easier to find in my area, I'd have the body I want easily.

Iwa_Hoshi: Oh no, no siblings at the moment. Movie wise, I do feel a lot of sympathy for Lucille, and the costumes for her are amazing but I don't think she's a character I'd like in my doll-verse. I am tempted to look for a Thor sculpt and make a distant cousin. Or Huntsman from Snow White and the Huntsman

I have to agree to the Tom having sibling issues being a running trend. I wonder if he's noticed that too?
