Disney Store King Consort Hans x Queen Elsa OOAK Set

Postby SetsunaKou » Wed Jan 04, 2017 4:17 pm

This is my custom OOAK set of Queen Elsa & her King Consort Hans 1/6 Disney Store doll set.

I finally had a chance to create Hans’ Arendelle Naval uniform and updated Elsa’s Designer Ice Queen gown to be more accurate to the movie.

I added many AB (Aurora Borealis) baguette small gems to Elsa’s bodice so it would look more like a cascade of ice crystals rather than just a few scattered here and there. I also applied hundreds of 1mm AB gems at her waist/hips like in the film and also some scattered on her bodice, and all around her neckline in 3 tiers. I added more as well to her sleeves in her ‘fractal’ patterns and also lengthened her ice cape and applied hundreds more 1.5mm and 2mm crystal gems to the cape all over so it would glimmer in the light.

Hans’ uniform is entirely handmade with custom trim and tiny 1mm purple gems adorning it—his ‘medals’ and epaulettes and aiguillette were such fun to make! (Hans has been rebodied onto a Mattel Fashionista jointed male body for better accuracy to the character’s build.)

Both Hans and Elsa have been given new faceups, detailing and hairstyling. (Hans’s hair I painted in more reddish iridescent tones, rather than just browns.)

I hope you like them, too! I think I’m finally satisfied with them! What do you think?

I know this is nit-picky. Bear in mind, I have no idea if Arendelle royal nomenclature bears any resemblance at all to the Real World, but in the Real World, the words "King" and "Consort" do not ever appear together.

If the ruling monarch is the Queen, and her spouse is not a ruler in his own right, as is the case in the UK, then her spouse is never given the title of "King" and must be contented with being elevated only to "Prince-Consort."

If the ruling monarch is the King, and the Queen is not a co-ruler, she has the title of Queen, whatever her status was before marriage.

If the King and Queen are co-rulers, they are still referred to as "King" and "Queen" with no "Consort" appended to either.

If the King from one country marries the Queen from another, they are still referred to as "King" and "Queen", regardless of whether or not they have right-to-rule in the other's country. Usually the country in which they are the ruler is appended to their name, as was the case of Mary Tudor, where she was Queen Mary of England, and he was King Phillip of Spain.

Since Hans is not yet King of his country, he would, if he married Elsa, be entitled "Prince-Consort" according to those rules. If Hans' father died before or after he married Elsa, he would be entitled "King" with no "Consort" appended. If he was the ruler of a country which did not actually have a King, only a ruling Prince (like Monaco), he would be "Prince-Consort." Else could not elevate him to "King."

VV-sama, you're absolutely right and this is usually true--it's mostly 'honorary', but it does sometimes happen and is the 'alternative' title to 'Prince Consort' if the queen wishes it and if Parliament allows it if there so happens to be a constitutional monarchy or similar governmental setup.

Queen Victoria even wanted to make Prince Albert her 'King Consort' but the parliament wouldn't allow it only because he was a foreigner.

And Francis, Duke of Cadiz was 'King Consort' and even remained such after his wife, Queen Isabella II's reign was over. He was still called 'King' and styled 'His Majesty' or 'Your Majesty' even after she was deposed. :) Even at the time, he was known as 'King Consort' by other countries as well.

You can read about it here, if you'd like:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_consort
or more in depth:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_consort

Here is an excerpt from a book by Mrs. Wm. Pitt Byrne, "Cosas De España, Illustrative of Spain and the Spaniards as they are" Volume II, Page 7, Alexander Strahan, Publisher, London and New York, 1866:

"… The Queen is large in stature, but rather what might be called bulky than stately. There is no dignity either in her face or figure, and the graces of majesty are altogether wanting. The countenance is cold and expressionless, with traces of an unchastened, unrefined, and impulsive character, and the indifference it betrays is not redeemed by any regularity or beauty of feature.
The King Consort is much smaller in figure than his royal two-thirds, and certainly is not a type that could be admired for its manly qualifications; but we have to remember that in Spain aristocratic birth is designated rather by a diminutive stature and sickly complexion than by those attributes of height, muscular power, open expression, and florid hue, which in England constitute the ideal of ‘race."

But you're right in that it's a very rare occurrence. :) Thanks for commenting!! It was fun to chat about this topic. :) I feel that since Hans/Helsa would be a rare case, let's go all extreme and make him totally humbled by Elsa's mercy and love! :laughs: But I sure don't expect Anna to like it!

Or will she? (She's so unpredictably awesome!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the way, are you watching 'Victoria' the series on PBS/BBC with Jenna Coleman? I can't wait until they reach this part when Victoria wants to make Albert 'King Consort' and the parliament refuses her! I always thought that was so generous of her (and romantic) and Parliament refused because he's a foreigner! :laughs: Which is ironic because most men or women that the Queen or King would marry were foreigners to tie kingdoms together and make good alliances. But I guess that was the point. ;)
Ah well! At least she tried! She really loved, loved, loved him, which is another rare thing in royal marriages of the 19th century and earlier.
Well, the big irony is that Victoria was very nearly as foreign as Albert. She didn't have a drop of Anglo-Saxon, Norman, Stuart, or Tudor blood in her. She was House of Hanover, and as German as they come, though born in England. Related by blood to most of the Hapsburg Empire.
I still find it puzzling that Elsa would even give a second look at Hans considering he did try to kill her (and Anna) once. LOL But then, the Disney movie is the only video I've watched, so I don't know what happened afterward.
