Original Effect Teenie Body

Postby werepuppy » Fri Jul 06, 2018 9:13 am

This... is a bit of an odd one, even for me. On 30th June, I went to Glasgow Comic Con, an awesome local con dedicated primarily to comics and showcasing some of the best artists in the UK comic industry. It was a brilliant day, and i had a ton of fun and as always, I came home with books. I also came home with this girl right here:

Image

She is a 1/6 scale Original Effect Teenie Body figure. They also had the Reborn Body which was about 33cm tall and felt a lot heavier, but this girl was sold to be as being easier to be able to clothe and, well, just look at the cuteness of her face:

Image

Frankly, it was the cuteness of her face that sold her to me over the slightly bigger body. She's pretty well articulatled - very reminiscent of an obistu though with nicer looking joints, and height wise... yeah I'd say she's about the same as the hard bust 27cm obitsu - here's a comparison pic with her in her flat feet (sorry it's not the best, I just used whoever was to hand):

Image

I was actually pretty surprised the obitsu dress fitted her so well - she's a bit hip-y compared to the Barbie figure so I will need to go in search of some proper jeans or something for her. Feet wise, she's a lot bigger. I've heard Poppy Parker sized shoes can fit, but I don't have any to test that out.

Image

The big thing I noticed with her, and maybe this is just me, was that she didn't seem all that comfortable in a dress. Now, generally speaking I try to make a basic sheath dress for most dolls who enter my room as it's a simple outfit that can be knocked together pretty quickly. While the purple suited her, she just seemed... a bit ill at ease being in a dress. This kind of strengthened my resolve to get hold of a decent pair of jeans for her.

Image

Putting her in this finally made her seem happy and I'm quite liking the look. Like I said, I'm still aiming to get her jeans, and maybe some sneakers, but for now we're both content with how she looks. Name wise... I keep getting Shiori coming to mind. I think it might be her name.

... I am tempted to get that reborn body though...

She is quite adorable, indeed. Is her hard wig removable?

@Kirahfaye: Yes, her hard wig is removable. It's essentially stuck down with blu-tack they provide you with, and I think it would be a size 4-4/12 wig is you were to go purchase one. I really like the hard wig though, it frames her face in a really nice way, and works well with her eyes. I was told that it is possible to buy other wigs from the company but I've not been able to find any.

@maywong: I thought so as well! I really like her eyes. Her head can be opened up and her eyes re-positioned or swapped out. I fixed the right one so it was more level with the left. I should take a picture to show that, really...

I find it fascinating that her head is in real proportion to her body, unlike pretty much every other current 1/6 figure out there. Maybe the Dragon females are also proportional, I haven't looked at them recently.

The Dragon female I got awhile ago is proportional with hard hair. Art S Buck/Sideshow females are also proportional.

I'll be looking in to one of these girls next time I need one.

@victoriavictrix: I will say, scrolling back up to look at the height comparison picture, it is odd to see her head among the others. I hadn't really noticed it when she stands on her own, but among others... it is actually quite odd to see? Fascinating, though, you're completely right. The reborn body - here - is also proportional. She's about 33cm though

DollyKim: I hope that you find one of these very helpful? Actually, I don't think I've seen the Dragon females... I will need to google and look them out.

ETA: And a photo to show the slightly more level eyes.

Image

She's wearing a Barbie fashion here - from the punk two-pack. (Just like to take a minute here to say that weirdly, no matter who I tried it on, the red skirt just did not look right. The top I think will look cool with a pair of jeans, which I am trying to find a good set of online. eBay will be my big help here)
