Fashionisto Ken and other Xmas goodies

Well, these are probably my only doll related presents I'll get this year thanks to selling my textbooks, haha.
Fashionistas were 20% off so I grabbed two. So Lara finally got a non LIV body and Cutie got it... Lawl. So yeah, I have a random Fashionista to keep around until I need a body... And well, the Swapping Styles Barbie have literally wiped the normal ones from the shelves so yeah D8
Twilight Victoria was about half price so I grabbed her.
And they just introduced the new Fashionistos today with the sale price so score... lawl.
Thank goodness I sold my old books xD




Her hair was really nice but try washing it and all went to hell. So I chopped off the frizzy ends and relaxed the curls via perm boil.

I think she's gorgeous, eyecolour and all.

Though now I doubt she'll ever get a better body...


I do think this is one of Mattel's best screens...


Here she is on a white Volks body... which is actually darker than her! *sigh*






Asides from the fact Ken being a fashionista is gay on all levels, I must say I actually really like him out of package. The size is good, nice screening and the hair is not gelled to hell and back.

The clothes fit well and I actually like this doll with no mods. Heh, that is so strange. I can not remember liking a doll this much with no alterations...

Fashionista ken is the skinniest and second most short, bar Max Steel.

The most annoying thing is the articulation below the waist. But it doesn't affect me too much since I find the upper body to be the more expressive to me in photography terms.

His arms are on par with the other kens except he has sexy wrists, so win.

Honestly, if I had another Fashionisto Ken I would just cut him in half and kit bash it onto a MyScene boy body pelvic half.


His body is just so slim. Note in the last comparison all the other kens have broad shoulders. Fashionista's shoulders are more subtle...

Also, note his eyes are painted larger. If I had a second one I'm sure making smaller eyes would lessen the big head effect.


Edward fails on the Fashionista while Fashionista ken has no real problem on that body.



Ironically, Luke, the main guy I wanted this body for has a lollipop head effect on the body... However, the slimmer body suits the 80's style kens much better than what I've kept them on...


Anywho, since Ken is like a very gay timelord, I must say the updates to his new look are very welcomed, hopefully meaning that 2011 has a whole lot more of gay!Ken around.

Ooo, now that I know Fashionista Ken is skinnier and shorter than regular Ken (and therefore more bishi) I am starting to feel drawn to him. Plus, the fact that his hands don't look like roughly molded blobs on the ends of his forearms.

I really liked the new Kens when I saw them in stores. I grabbed the older non-swapping style Barbie, since she is clearly on her way out. Since the Kens go with the crazy head-swapping Barbies, I figure they will be around for a bit.

Good to know what the body looks like.

I intend to get both... I have the beginnings of plans...

He's actually the only Ken I'd consider getting. XD He looks pretty good, if skinnier (maybe he's supposed to be a computer geek instead of muscle dude )

About Tori's body... I'm going to try to get her a pale dynamite dolls body after christmas if I'm not entirely broke. Hopefully that'll be a better match. They really are pale pale. Hm.

Thanks all! Gay Timelord ken theory is that how else do you explain the reasons why his look keep swinging bad from cherub to cool to groovy to nondescript to sleazy to happy to baby face and to now? All whilst remaining so fabulously in style.

Delbelcoure, he actually quite bishi feeling in an Americanised mainstream way. Though I can't quite get rid of the feeling that A LOT of my gay friends dress like these new Fashionisto Kens.


And Eseme, yush, when I saw the packaging with swappin' Styles, a single solitary tear fell from my eye as I farewelled one of Mattel's best bodies they've released.

Nashira, he's certainly purdy and quite a nice inbetween size for the other figures on this scale. And you must show the Victoria hybrid when you do.

Kittyasaurus, it's a Fashion Royalty with an Action man head. Whenever there's a shirtlessgroup pic, he must get in the action.

Pandor, he does from the chest up. But the arms are quite... small looking with him and it's just a really odd effect.

Thanks muchly for the comparison pictures. I hadn't realized *just* how much shorter the Fashionisto boys are than any of the other jointed Kens.

I really, really hope as well that the Swappin' Styles body is an aberration and that the next wave will be back to the normal bodies. It's not as though the head-swapping concept went over amazingly well with My Scene. Mattel just doesn't get the whole 'leave well enough alone' concept. :::coughKellycough:::
