Tam I am wrote:Yeah, that was part of it too. And I'm her third owner, at least. She was a body used for a fancier head, and then given to me when she got a bit wobbly. And the soft body. All challenging to somebody with sensory issues. But I'm finally used to her, and even her legs sweating because it got too hot in here didn't chase me away. I just gave her a careful bath and set her in a cooler place.

Ah, yes, I understand the sensory issues aspect of it all. But I am glad you've managed to bond with your girl!

65. Throwback Thursday: Oor Wullie the Musical: World Book Day

Image

Today happens to be World Book Day within the UK, and I was trying to think of a cool picture for celebrating it. I remembered this on my instagram and, well, that does work well.

Oor Wullie is a comic strip that has been running in The Sunday Post for 84 years. It features around 10 year old Wullie, and his adventures in his home town of Auchenshoogle, with his Ma, Pa, and his friends. The most infamous image of the strip - and how the majority start and end - is Wullie sitting on an unturned bucket. (Samples of the strip can be found here!)

The comic strip recently gained a musical adaptation that has been receiving rave reviews from many publications. Last Wednesday (26th Feb) Basil and I went along to see it at the Macroberts Arts Centre. It was a lot of fun, a great laugh, and the songs are stuck in my head so I'm really hoping they bring out a cast recording. For those interested, here is a trailer for the show and a performance of one of the songs.

Sorry for not commenting for so long! UK-exclusive World Book Day is hilarious. I bet Basil and Wullie would be good friends!

Unfair. World book day needs to be all over the world. LOL

Oh, I loved the 60cm Obitsu even before I could play with her. They're just wonderful dolls.
I am Tam. Tam I am. I like green eggs, but I don't like ham. :D

I tried linking one of my adopted click pets here, but the board wouldn't let me. :/

I'd like to think Basil and Wullie would get on!

There is another one on April 23rd - the UK one is always earlier, I don't know why - but I don't know if it gets the whole dress up as a book character that is encouraged here

I have to agree on the Obitsu being wonderful dolls. I have a 60cm - Olivia - and a 65cm - Jack - and they're both great.

66. World's Greatest Detective

Image

Arrival Date: 16th January 2020

Okay. So, here's the thing, I've been a fan of Death Note since I was about 16/17, and that's also roughly when I first became aware of Medicom, via finding this figure. At the time, I couldn't afford him and by the time I could, he was out of stock, and the secondary market prices were insane.

But this year, I found him, for a more reasonable price than he's been in over a decade. Finally, I have L and ... he does not disappoint, at all. Probably the most detailed feet I've seen on a 1/6 scale figure, but that makes sense considering the character is always barefoot.

Look, I've had him since January and I still can't quite believe he's home.

I honestly thought I would never get him. It's still amazing to think I finally do have the figure that started the interest in collecting all those years ago.

67. A is for Anthromorphic Personification

Meaning giving human aspects to thinks that should not be considered human. Such as Death, for example. The best version of Death in all of fiction is the one from Discworld, and this is one of their aspects, Death of Rats. One of the best plush to own ever.

Love L! And those are definitely some detailed feet!

I remember starting to watch Deathnote awhile back but I never finished it. I dunno, it just didn’t hold my attention.

Everyone loves Death of Rats. It's the little snout sticking out from the hood, that's what does it.

Oh, that was an awesome MH release, that doll.

Actually I do think it is one of those stories that is better read, so you can take your own time on it? It's always been explained to me as a Sherlock story told from Moriarty's point of view, which... interesting

68. B is for Bucket

Image

When we went to see the show on the 26th, they had an upturned bucket for people to take their photographs on - recreating Oor Wullie's most famous pose. Of course, Basil needed to have a go of this himself.

LOL I'm kind of a Grim Reaper fan.

**nod nod!** They're a beautiful doll. I'd love to get the styling head of them, too.

I thought the Sherlock Holmes from the Moriarty viewpoint was 'A Study in Emerald'.
