(kind of dumb) Question about difference between 60cm bodies

Postby Moonstruckwitch » Tue Dec 28, 2010 7:32 am

Ok, so I will be getting two 60cm obitsu's in febuary, one for me and the other for my boyfriend who has fallen for the super poseable dolls as well. I've never had any of these size (being new to dolls in general), so I was wondering if anyone could tell me the pro's and cons between the normal body and ball joint body. Are they pretty much the same with just slight differences in build?

First, I'm assuming by "normal body and ball joint body" you're referring to the different style of elbow and knee joints as seen below.

Image

In a nutshell, the double hinge style joint (as seen in 1,2, and 4 above) has a slightly greater range of motion than the ball joint style (seen in 3). The ball joint style joint is more aesthetically pleasing than the double hinge.

The 50cm body has elbow/knee joints which are sort of a hybrid of these two designs. Having a range of motion between the two, the 50cm joints are more aesthetically pleasing than the 60cm double hinge.

Compare the pictures on these two pages to see the various elbow joints.

everytime I start to think I want a 60cm. The articulation and size keeps drawing me back to 50cm....

The hinge-joint body poses better, the ball-joint body is prettier, but the 50 cm body is FABULOUS. Which heads are you getting? A lot of the heads look great on the 50 cm body (Haruka, Megu, esp.).

Thanks for the help everyone! I'm going to be getting a gretel head for mine, and a sheba for my boyfriend's. I was also planning on buying the...ehem....boobage for my girl. Will the chest plate work for a 50cm body? Or would it be too big since it's for the 60cm?

There are separate large bust options for the 60cm

and the 50cm.

I would suggest one of the 60cm bodies for a Gretel head - they are a little larger than the others. Haruka's look great on everything!

If I get a chance for a photo session later tonight, I will get my Gretel on the slide joint body and compare her to Highlander's Gretel on the ball-joint body (in body suits too so you can see what they look like clothed). His Gretel has boobies and mine has the regular bust. :) Both 60cm.

And no dumb questions here. I ask all of this and more just a few months ago and now we have 7 60cm vinyl ladies in teh house with 3 more in the works.
