The dolls found another thing they want.

Yes it's shopped and yes it's Jimmy, point being with all the other guitar making and customizing I'll be doing, like turning wood shapes into a Danelectro and making a Rickenbacher for little John Lennon, I'll want to figure out how to make some funky controllers. Perhaps a triple neck for Jonesy?

Is this Guitar Hero or Rock Band? I don't do video games and want to have the right box for it :?

Coolies, I'm going to see if I can throw together a triple neck for JPJ, and maybe Tambourine Hero for Percy, and put it in one of the dolls' displays next to the box of Cap'n Crunge.

Alas any dollhouse plans will need to remain plans for awhile. I want an interesting design to their music store, for wall paper 2" record covers will work. Will have to figure out how big a scaled controller to will need to be. Hmm, hammered dulcimer hero...

Aw man. I'm really sorry to hear that, Kd_Bunchanumbers. I've been there. It utterly sucks.

Sending good thoughts down under.

Sorry to hear about that John. I've been in your shoes - with my ex-husband . . . . You deserve better and you'll find it!

What was that TV show from the 80s where a guy drew pictures with colored pencils while telling excerpts from kids books? Might have been on PBS, it was the kind of thing you might get to watch in school. The guy was a great almost realistic artist. One story that stands out was a girl and little boy, she gets bored and puts flour in a bag then puts it on their heads to make their hair white. They go to wash it out with water, end up with paste in their hair which has to be cut out, she doesn't like short hair and wears her red hooded sweatshirt all summer. I also want to say there was a story about a boy or two who live underground, they're bald and wear togas, they go to explore an air shaft or something that leads to the surface and wear bags on their feet so they don't track dirt in to the uber clean city. I don't think that story was City of Ember but I haven't read Logan's Run yet.

It was not Reading Rainbow, Imagination Station, or a how to draw program.

What to do with the art work from old Barbie cases. http://dollrestoration.com/totebags.htm

I'm going to try something similar as I work to make lemonade out of some busted doll cases I have.

Anyone who might explode if I operate on this case, which is splitting and is torn by the rusty lock, better PM yesterday. I hope to get started on skinning gay Ken off of it tomorrow. And I'm definitely keeping the graphic.

Damn, serious writer's block.... I retooled my oldest blog a couple weeks back with the idea of using it for photo stories, written "doll's eye view" fiction and the like. Kind of like I had been doing with Pinkie's Big World but a little more expansive.

And now I'm just kinda stuck.

I like PBW but it continued to bother me that there would always be comparisons to Miskatonic Nick's Toyville character. Even though my character grew out of the old (supa-sekrit) FoP! (Friends of Pinky!) group at the JS board, the reference is just too vague. The "new" project is really a return to old familiar characters and themes but I think that's the problem. The creative "leg work" has long since been done and it feels sort of old and time-worn to me. There isn't the thrill of discovery to spur the creative drive and I also worry about the dreaded "Mary Sue effect" with characters/dolls like Meg. LINK for the folks who don't remember her. And so, I look at the principal cast members standing on the bookshelf behind me, realize I have a great opportunity to get some work done today and think "Meh...." At least I have house and yard projects to keep me occupied!

Errgh, I hate that feeling; when there are thing to be done and no impetus to do them. I'm sure you'll work through, but it may feel like wading through molasses to get to your goal.
If you're at all like me, a complete break in activities may help. I find that doing something completely different can help break up creative logjams. Also, I just remembered a great essay by VV ( I can't find the link, maybe she would be able to help) about how the brain works and why verbally talking through a problem can be more effective that thinking about it. IIRC, it has something to do with getting the information aurally from one side of the brain to the other, so it can be processed differently and new solutions found. As a result, I am more understanding when people bounce ideas off me. In fact, I'll talk aloud to myself in order to get thing moving. I don't know if any of that was helpful, or just me running on at the fingers, but is was offered with a helpful intent.
