The Patients;
Mariko - Obitsu 60cm, Gretel head, ball-joint, slim body with large Parabox bust. She wants a larger body to match her larger bust. She also wants a new hand.
Makoto - Obitsu 60cm, Gretel Head, sliding joints, hard bust, soft normal body. Makoto's waist joint is broken, and her hip-ball joints appear worn, she needs a new soft bust, and her arm vinyl must be replaced due to extreme aging and stains.
Midori - Obitsu, Gretel head, no body, bust only with neck piece. Brand new face-up and emerald green eyes. Midori is in need of a slim ball-joint body body to match her standard size Obitsu bust.
Susie - Obitsu, sliding joints, painted eyes, original head style. Susie is the latest arrival and arrived with a shattered waist joint. She also has a three piece hard body. Susie will ultimately move to a ball-joint Obitsu body, and so she is acting as a donor in this procedure.
Spare parts from Parabox;
2 x pair of hip-ball joints for sliding joint limbs.
2 x internal skeleton waist joint piece
1 x pair of upper arm vinyl for sliding joint arms
1 x pair of lower arm vinyl for sliding joint arms
1 x soft, normal abdomen to replace hard vinyl abdomen pieces
1 x soft large bust (Obitsu) to replace a hard bust
1 pack of 4 replacement hands.
Goals;
Mariko transplanted to a soft vinyl sliding joint Obitsu body (formerly Susie's), with replacement waist and hip-ball joints, one hand swap to remove stained hand.
Makoto new bust, replacement arm vinyl, and fix the waist and legs.
Midori transplanted onto an Obitsu ball joint body (formerly Mariko's), with one hand swap for variety.
Susie removed from old sliding joint body, retain hard bust until new body is available.
Surgery
We started by removing Mariko's hands. She was swapping out one hand anyway, but she was also wearing a very tight body suit which had to be removed for disassembly. Removed her arms, then pulled the chest/head from the abdomen and set both parts aside. Hands were replaced and the arms were set aside also. Some of those hands are very hard to put on the wrist pieces.
Then we disassembled Susie, with her internal skeleton, arms and abdomen removed, Susie's chest/head was carefully wrapped for safe keeping. The internal skeleton was removed from the abdomen, the legs were removed and the hard body pieces were set aside. Using a hair dryer and a lot of brute force. As designated stronger person, I got the task of pulling joints out of reluctant vinyl. The legs were pulled apart and removed the hip-ball joints. This required a lot of heat, and all my strength pushing the joint back through the vinyl with a screw driver. I thought it would break for sure, but it didn't even scuff.
Makoto was similarly disassembled so her arms could be completely taken apart. Once again a lot of heat and a lot of force. I was amazed that I didn't break a wrist piece while removing them.
With the dis-assembly complete we started swapping out parts and putting our ladies back together. Midori was first up, since her procedure was the easiest of the three we had to perform. After one attempt to put her arms back, we found that the internal joint for the shoulders which came from the sliding joint body has marginally bigger sockets for the arms. This must be due to age because Obitsu says that the same shoulder joint is used for all Obitsu 60cm ladies. That joint was swapped for the one Mariko's slim body originally had, and all was well. We found that you are far better to assemble the lower portions of the internal skeleton and then put that into the abdomen in one piece because you don't have to fiddle around to fit the skeleton together inside the body. Once her legs were on Midori was complete.
Mariko was more involved. We assembled the lower two parts of her internal skeleton and placed it in the new soft abdomen. Then the chest with the older shoulder joint piece was mounted on the abdomen to give Mariko a fuller figure body to go with her fuller bust. The arms were put back on her, and the newly replaced hip-ball joints snapped into place on the waist joint. With that final snap, Mariko was complete. Our second procedure of the day was done.
Finally, Makoto. Makoto's arms had to be re-assembled with the new vinyl. Once again lots of heat and brute force. I am even more amazed at how tough the joints are. After the arms cam the hip-ball joints - once again a lot of heat and force required to remove the old ones. Then finally we assembled the internal skeleton and placed it into the soft abdomen. Makoto's head and neck piece were relocated to her new large, soft bust from Obitsu, and her shoulder joint was attached to the neck. Once the body was back together, the arms were replaced and the legs were snapped back into place. Ta-Da! the operation was a complete success!
We were amazed that there were no breakages and everything worked. The only tools were a screwdriver, a pair of pliers and a hair dryer. I'm sure many of you have had the experience of not being sure how much strength to use on a reluctant part when you are trying to remove it or re-install it in the so-called 'soft' vinyl. The older vinyl doesn't seem to soften as well as the new vinyl, and this added to our problems.

Our house of vinyl continues to grow. These big girls are not simply addictive, they are compelling. We used to save as many R&D Angels as we could buying them up and fixing them up. I think I may want to do the same for 60cm Obitsu girls in need of some TLC.
