The DoA doll mods (with RARE exceptions) are doing what they do because they are completely ineffectual in their real lives (assuming they have a real life), have been given power over a forum with a huge subscriber base, and do not have to answer to anyone for WHAT they do. They are preselected from a group prejudiced in favor of certain companies and against others, and who do not really want anyone who is not in their "in" group posting. I suspect the only reason they don't delete me, is because they know who I am. (I also do not make any big deal out of who I am, btw.) Granted, the same thing does happen in just about every "fringe" group when it gets large enough...but what just irritated the hell out of me this time is that we Old Farts have two--TWO--threads in that entire frikking site where we natter on. We get MAYBE 6 posts a day. Very few have pics. We are NOT bandwidth hogs, we are NOT bothering anyone, but they are patrolling those two threads like Nazis with attack dogs and there is no reason to do so. Except that we DARE to have BJDs and we are OLD and have real lives and real opinions, and stand up for ourselves, and apparently that offends them.

Not to mention jobs and responsibilities beyond getting dear daddy to buy the next $3000 limited edition BJD . . . *retracts cat claws* LOL!

Its a similar thing in our local meet-up group thread. We have been smacked several times for carrying on conversations beyond what the mod-in-charge-at-the moment deems legal.

Heck I keep expecting the whole lot of us here to get a group ban just because we dare question the DOA mod authority . . .

See, my experience with moderating is totally opposite. I don't enjoy having alleged "power" over others; the fact that I have an EDIT icon next to everyone's post doesn't give me a heady feeling at all. It seems excessively complicated and capricious to police the content of each thread and/or post and to decide which individual dolls shall be allowed based on some nebulous definition of "Asian Aesthetic". I probably spend way too much free time on the computer but I couldn't bring myself to care that *THIS* Volks sculpt is OK while *THAT* Dollzone sculpt is off-limits and I must remain on the board 'round the clock to enforce that concept. Seriously, when would you even have time for the hobby? I mean, I'm sure things like bathing and sleep get ignored and food can be consumed at the computer. Bathroom breaks can be facilitated by being quick or using a laptop/smart phone/iPad and a wireless router.

But why?

At the end of the day, you are some semi-anonymous moderator on some message board with a huge membership and long-standing reputation as a complete joke. Impressive, huh?

This is because you have a life, a real live family, you get out and see the sun once in a while, and you actually DO things. But there is a reason why the acronym FIAWOL (Fandom Is A Way Of Life) turned up in science fiction circles. Because for some people, that is all they have.

Like the guy I'm dealing with who thinks $10 is a fair price for a good 900+ MTG cards or the one who thinks by flooding my You Tube inbox by telling me how much my Spider-Man painting sucks I'll eventually approve one of his messages. What in the world would they do if they went down in history as the Mods who banned VV? Who knows who else, like company execs, they're rubbing the wrong way?

The big project I'm working on looks like it has FIAWOL written all over it. All I can do is plot revenge like making the official Xavier doll a Dollzone because mine is, Junky Spot exclusive fullset ofcourse, I want a run of 1/6 dolls too. Part of me chuckles to myself at the thought of someone having to make a Volks Xavier because they'd never be caught with a DZ. I wonder what it's like to have a life like that?

And how did Apple know that iPads were made for the bathroom?

I saw the banned doll lists and I don't even get WHY they do that. I understand 'off topic' okay that's still not a reason to be total jerks but still...Why ban a Dollzone Lynn and then delete anyone's accounts if they even ask about it?

What the? o_O I thought DZ was one of their precious compan-oh wait, it's not Volks.
Thats still kinda weird, though. I've been out of the loop for a bunch of months and DZ's website is taking a year to load, but I don't see why DOA would ban it... though, I can't find this sculpt on DZ's site... o_O

I'm thinking of possibly selling my B&G Sharon for a fairyland ShiWoo... kinda fits Reli's personality from the looks of the expression... something playful/trickster, but still an innocent little vampire kid - and the Sharon seems to scare everyone I show him to o_O; Or maybe a crobi something....

But at the same time, I feel bad for even the thought of selling it D: It did well in the photostory I did ages ago, but it's expression is otherwise a little blank... maybe slightly alarmed. So I haven't really "bonded" (aka, didn't get attached to - I'm not crazy, lol) with the sculpt. It's just cute in a small child way, though O_o ....so maybe I did get a little attached to, but not enough to abhor the though of ever selling it, like I would never to my Yuu or Apollo or 50cm Obi/Horus O_o
