Looking For Volunteers to Resize Human Costume Patterns?

I would absolutely NOT be making this offer if the patterns I have were not totally out of print. However they are.

I have a lot of human historical and pseudo-historical costume patterns. These can be resized by the Dale Rae method. If I get volunteers to do this resizing I will send a photocopy of the pattern pieces page free (which is what Dale Rae uses for her method). All I ask is that the volunteers then post the PDFs of the resized patterns for the use of the forum members.

I don't have the ability to do this myself since I don't have a scanner attached to my computer and I don't have Photoshop.

PM me with your address and how many patterns you are willing to handle.

If I get enough volunteers, I may dive into my pattern stash for the stuff I still have from the 60s (!) 70s (!) and 80s. That's right, I never throw anything out.

Is there an "average" sized doll you want them resized for - or just sort of a "whichever you want"?

Well the easiest would be to just make a PDF and let people resize them from there. Personally I would like them resized for 60cm and 45 cm

This would give me a good excuse to find out what the gnomes did with the scanner's power adaptor. But I don't know if I have a way to make PDFs. If I can find out how to make PDF files I'd love to help out.

OpenOffice.org, the Mac version is called Neo Office You have to load the pics page by page but it's free and makes publishable pdfs

There's a free Mac app called Images to pdf too, don't know if it's "publishable" but it's been working for turning a folder of images in to pdfs.

I didn't know Open Office could do that, awesome! Then I'm deffinatly in, just need to find that adaptor, I think the cats were climbing behind the desk and unplugged the scanner, when they did they knocked the wires down behind the desk. So I have to clear out the storage space to get to the mythical land of "behind the desk."

I've resized some patterns for my own use as well and it was a lot of fun

There's a save or export as pdf option. Use full page images, don't make collages because it likes to jumble all your pictures up some times with the anchor thing. I still don't know how to use most of it but it's what I've done my books on. Although I've been able to get full size patterns to print out I still include a 1" and 1cm gage on each pic just to be sure.

I think this is such an awesome project offer that not only am I going to lend a hand doing some of these, I'm also going to offer to have the resulting PDF files hosted here on the DS server so people don't need to worry about finding a place on websites, etc... to house them. All that will be needed is to send me the file after you are done and I will upload it to the server and either post the file as available in the area I'll make for them (naturally making sure that EVERYONE knows who the wonderful pattern contributor and pattern sizer are!) or you can do that yourself and I'll just supply the link

Also, I've got everything needed to make PDF files and even fancy them up - so if you've done the resizing, and can do the scanning, but have no idea what to do next I will gladly take your pieces and make the PDF for you too
