I think several people on DoA probably recommended they change the name. While on the most part I find BJD fandom isn't too wildly prudish - there probably is someone who got their panties in a wad over the name. At least we've had fun for a while.

hahaha, no, that's Iplehouse. Impl is a new company that keeps annoying them with wierd fantasy sculpts that they don't want to allow.

Srsly? I love the Impl dolls. Too expensive for me atm but I could see myself owning one in the future. I kinda want to be on DOA when my BJDs finally come in but it seems the DOA overlords are hard to appease......I have been lurking the threads though and the members seem really cool.

I wondered if such a creature would even meet their strict but nebulous definition of "Asian aesthetic" anyway. I notice some of Impl's stuff has a kind of fantasy, Ray Harryhausen-inspired look to them, which probably isn't "Asian" enough to suite them.

Actually someone did - or at least in either the News or Discussion thread they said it was almost as bad as putting an IOS Anos head on a Gay body (don't know the maker of Gay).
