Snowskin is insanely white like paper or fabric, Dollzone beauty white is a slightly yellower tone than Obitsu white. My oldest DZ is almost a shade darker than my white Obitsu 60.

Some of the best ethnic 1/6 guys I've seen, in a rich shade of brown with realistic head sculpts, have been the Power Team Elite. Mattel is doing something with the SIS line that come somewhat jointed. and in several shades. I had several Shani dolls for a few years, didn't play with them much, then found a new mommy for them who was beside herself to have a doll that matched her. It may just take more things like the Princess and the Frog to change people, and at least that way they're starting from the ground up.

You would think that in this day and time people would be progressive enough to not have problems with ethnicity in flesh, resin or vinyl form. However, I think most of the "ethnic" shades I've seen in dolls look more like paint shades than skin tones. I have seen a few that look more realistic, though.

I've got a couple of darker 1/6thers, as in, it's impossible to see them as anything but African American.... I got them because I thought they were beautiful, since all I've seen in my area of the world (BFE) are mostly caucasian dolls... I'd love to have a few more dark-skinned lovelies, male or female, because it's a nice change of pace. Though i will admit, most of my kids are caucasian-ish.... with Nijika and Rattrap sharing a body currently... >.>;;

Because my doll came to me already tanned (character is kinda fair in a Chinese way but doll is tanned, go figure). Now that I need a body I can't find the right and close shade of tan and the tan shades out there are a whole lot darker or pinker than her light orangery shade. And the only body I seen thats close enough to her shade is male T_T
One of the males became tan to match his Obitsu Regular male body even though he's suppose to be a fair Caucasian

The rest of my 1/6 dolls are fleshtone since I didn't think too much about skintone beyond 'as long as its not pale' and 'body parts are easier to come by in fleshtone'.

So unless character in question is a tanned beach bunny or is a darker skin character (like myself, Chinese gal who spent too much time under the sun but am no beach bunny). I don't have much use for doll in darker skin tone. My poor nameless Hispanic gal is still in her box, while I don't dislike her I can't find a use for her since I got her for spare parts (well she look like the right shade in pictures)

Out of curiosity, anyone know how to lighten a tan action figure skin tone by a shade or two?

Maybe I should send my mom to DoA. She made fun of my goodreau mirror cause she is darker skinned.
I'm not really racists, I am realistic. I don't like ignorance or idiots or extremists. And that goes for all walks of life, skin color and gender. It did hurt my feelings for what she called my doll. Because she is none of that. She's a dark skinned ganguro girl D:

Well...I'm not going to say anything about DOA because getting upset about what other people do and say on debate threads in other forums just isn't fun for me, (and it's why I avoid debate threads like the plauge)

BUUUUT...if we're talking tan-beautiful, dark lovely tan-and ethnically sensitive sculpts, Iplehouse I think is far and away the most striking, (their more recent Asa and Ashani? gorgeousness! not to mention their Aarons and some of their limited circus dolls-swoon!)

I think what really is the deeper part of this thread is the beauty of the tan in the resins shades of brown. It doesn't matter if it is the softer side being " real skin" or the deepest of dark ebony , it's that there are so many people and companies out there that seem to have this strange aversion to it as if there is something / not natural about being " pale or beauty white " and the doll people who feel that it's there place to spout off about how " if it ain't white it ain't right ".

Mud-Slinging against DOA isn't going to accomplish anything , trust me I do understand that. But honestly I wish that some people would understand that just because they have the ability to speak doesn't mean that every thought should escape their mouths.

A person is free to purchase and love whatever skin tone doll their hearts desire.

my daughter has a goodreau secret and a goodreau mirror (same sculpt different color vinyls) they are sisters. She liked the dark color of mirror. they used to be posted in the msd area on 13doll.
i would post a pic but its on the other machine currently. the pic was posted by haruka-sama my daughter i think the title was a trip to grandma's house. the only reason her weylin is normal skin was emmory was out of light tan when she bought him as she originally wanted him in light tan to have more of a sun kissed look as we are from florida.

I am just at the 101 level of racism, but one of the basic tenents seems to be: If someone who is the subject if racism feels that something is racist, then it is. People who aren't subject to racism just don't pick up the subtle nuances because they aren't sensitized to it. It is a real issue, in our real world and doll color is a part of that real issue.
That said, I have noticed the dearth of darker skinned dolls, not just in resin dolls, but in all dolls. Even the lighter colors that are offered are really pale compared to the actual range of colors that people come in. Art dolls, that are individually hand made, with all the colors of the rainbow to pick from are still overwhelmingly pale (and female, but that is a whole different kettle of fish). I make cloth dolls and a few sculpted dolls, so I pay attention to what people make. It's weird how many dolls are pale, paler even than the artists who make them. Ours can be a messed up world, we need people to keep pointing out the inequalities, so we can keep working on them and not just assume our work as humans is done.

P.S. and how wrong is it that so many companies call their pale dolls "Normal Skin"? Like what - all other colors aren't normal? That's just garbage talk.
