Cases, totes, and keepers

Today's idea, personalized custom cases for certain dolls to keep their clothes and stuff it. Especially the weirdo size dolls that can't or won't share with anyone. What have you done or want to do for your dolls? Is there a ready made box or plastic case out there which comfortably holds a 1/6 scale doll with a secure lid so they don't lose accessories and tiny stuff?

Now for my ponderances-
What to put Young Sherlock Holmes and Watson in? Something steam punk with gears and stuff? I could use suggestions.

How to get the musty smell out of a vintage Ken case? I'm going to take the graphic off so covering the thing isn't a problem. Or is it not worth fighting the thing and letting it wander away.

Well, if you have thrift stores in the area, you can get retro luggage and fit it with foam. But depending on how crafty you are you can mod almost anything to a case, providing its big enough. Hope that helps!

I when a bring my girls somewhere I usually don't bring extra clothes with me. So I just wrap them in a big thing of fleece I have and most of them fit well in reusable shopping bags like you found a grocery stores. Sometimes if I bring Joe anywhere I put her in her box she came with which has room for extra clothes.
I have some other things too that I use. I'll post picture of them later because it kind of hard to explain them. :)

My little girls run around in a wine bottle bag actually, it has 2 compartments one for the girls one for what ever else I want to throw in. I did find a wicked idea for a quilted doll holder that basically looked like an amazing blanket for the doll that I'd like to figure out how to make.

With Jimmy and Holmes and Watson their cases are half storage, half display. All three are different sizes from the average guy dolls so they would have their own clothes and stuff I'd want to keep track of. Right now I have to keep the Monsters in one of my fabric bins and I'd love it if I could figure out a monster themed something to keep them in instead. Same thing with the Disney Princes and the girls' extra clothes. The Princess have a big box that keeps them dust free yet I can see them.

A pattern for that doll blanket wouldn't be hard to make, I wouldn't want to copy that person's design exactly. It's two pieces of fabric and some padding, like making a quilt, with a ribbon on one side to tie the doll. The bias tape around the edges is possibly hiding the seam. I can see making a patchwork one out of my stash for my dolls.

Here's what my 12inch girls' cases look like. The one on the left is Joe's and is from Hobby Lobby. The one of the other side is mostly Elsa's cases and it's from a thrift store. The top of it says Garden Tools.

She can fit inside too. She can lay down or sit up in it even with the lid closed.

Wow, I wish the Hobby Lobby one was big enough to hold Nicholas (Holmes) but he's close to 13" tall. I love the trunk shape.

Right now I'm cutting apart the Monster totes at the seams to see if I can make a wall hander for them.

I have heard of people sealing a musty-smelling doll in a box containing clay kitty litter. I suppose filling a plastic case with litter and closing it up tightly for several days might be worth a shot?

Digging this back up as I'm pondering something that can grow with the Monsters. The pockets I was trying didn't work and the fabric has been reclaimed for something else.

Another bummer with putting little Jimmy Page in a Marlboro carton or Jack Daniels box as neither are tall enough for him. The Paper Jams amps are too small as well, how cool would it be to have a Marshal stack for him? Ideas are wandering to printing stuff out to assemble, like boxes. Maybe boxes with acetate in the covers so I can see the occupants but help keep dust off of them?
