Volks Dollfie?*censored drawing

Postby kmadame » Thu Apr 07, 2011 2:21 am

So it seems I've acquired enough money for one of these specifically eb-b/tan skin :)
http://www.volksusa.com/2227eb0003.html
and a CHH Mini type/ Tan Skin, Center Parted, Gold head :D
http://www.volksusa.com/chhminitc08.html
So I was just wondering from any one who had one of these if their good posers and how they feel? to the touch like their texture I get hives when I touch some things and that would just ruin the first time I held her.
here's my charictor design!~

Their posing ability is all right, but they are very floppy. They can't stand on their own (the ankles are very weak) and they can't hold too many poses for a long period of time. You'll definitely need a chair for your girl or something. The one advantage to their floppiness is that they do tend to look very naturally posed. They sort of "settle" into a more relaxed position.

Texture-wise, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. The bodies are a smooth, hard plastic, pretty similar to a Barbie's midsection, and the head is squishier, also like a Barbie or something. If you don't have any problems with most plastic dolls, you should be fine.

My Volks page with a variety of Volks in various poses http://dolfielittles.com/volks.html

I have a tan N if you need a skin tone comparison. All of my EBs are still in one piece and Louis the oldest just turned six. They are floppy, and some parts like arms and feet can slide out of their sockets, just push them back in place. You want to be gentle with them, they aren't meant for kids or rough play or battles, treat it like it's a porcelain doll.

@Tira-chan thank you for the info :D I have lots of sitting things so she'll be alright.

@dollykim Thank you very much for that very helpful link! For the Excellent Base J is that the head she comes with pictured? And do you know if you can pick your head you want your doll to come with for a fee?

They are horrible posers. D: Not as bad as the little volks, but still not that great. I hate the way the elbows and wrists move. But I like the way it's sculpted. The midi body seems pretty good.

So...eh.

I'd say just get an obitsu, but you'd have a hard time finding one in tan.

obitsu dosn't make tan :( i don't think they ever will I'd have to find a custom and no one ever parts with their custom dollies XD Is their some method to "suede" them? if their really that bad Alana's kinda floppy but I'm ok with messing with my dollies till they stand.

Actually they used to but they're rare to find. I've found tan Obitsu bodies on Ebay. But it's your doll and your choice.

Dreams of a tan obitsu....i found some but i lost the auction. T__T
I don't like how volks bodies pose. I have a white skin one of the same model. However, the sculpts are very nice.

If you have the desire I'm sure you'll find one someday :D does she wear her cloths well and can she manage to stand with supervision ?

The shape of Volks and OBitsus are quite similar so yes she does wear her clothes well. She can stand on her own if she is wearing hard plastic boots that help support her wobbly ankles. However, she normally only stands with the help of a doll stand or prop. For this reason I really like the Obitsus.

and yes...in the future....I will have an tan Obitsu...cackles gleefully.....I want one pretty badly...but I think I might also get a tan volks too and try to mod her so she holds poses better.
