"My first BJD", or, not so much?

Postby Evelien » Wed Apr 27, 2011 4:44 pm

Okay, I'm a vintage 6" dolly collector, slowly venturing into the BJD world, and I've got my eyes on an MSD sized doll, but I can't afford her yet and probably won't be able to afford her any time soon (poor student, almost graduated but not exactly certain of a job, that kind of situation ;)).

So, I decided to go for a 27cm Obitsu. I already have the body, today I ordered a Obitsu Haruka head (completely inspired by MADh Vinyl's Anna Marie, I'm sorry!) and when she'll be here, I'll give her a face-up myself, or at least I'll attempt to.

Now, for me, all this is all extremely exciting! And I can already see myself as a proud dolly owner, posting a new topic called 'My first BJD'. BUT. And here's the question that it's all about: would such a topic be frowned upon here or can a 27cm Obitsu actually be considered my first official BJD? Opinions please

This is not DoA any and all dolls are permitted and Obitsu's here are counted as BJD's.

Trust me my first two BJD's are Obitsu 1/6 ^^ Congrats on getting here I hope to see pics.

Please, let me quote from the Dollieh Sanctuary Heretics Manifesto - which lays out our stance on BJDs in particular since it seems to be those that cause the most controversy in certain forums.

Thesis 1: If, in the construction of the body mechanism of a doll, some form of a "ball" is used to enable the motion/poseability of the "joint", said doll shall be recognized as "Ball Jointed" or BJD.

1/6 scale obitsu have ball joints in, at a minimum, their wrists and ankles, thus they qualify as a BJD in accordance with our Manifesto! There is more stuff in there, more or less related to BJDs, but this is the big one :)

Congrats on your first BJD! Be warned they are just like potato chips, you can never have just one. XD

Hope you share tons of pictures!

You must share pictures when she arrives :)

If you were on DoA, no they don't, but here! SHARE PHOTOS FASTER!

My Chae-ri proudly insists that she is a BJD, despite being a Moxie Teenz Melrose head on a Liv Daniela body. So your Obitsu girl would certainly count as well.

Haha I have Moxie Teen girls that I'm gonna put on LIV bodies too (after the heads have shrunken enough)!! They should totally hang out! LOL!

Guys, thanks for all the replies. I was a bit scared that even though getting her means so much to me, posting pictures and stuff here wouldn't be appreciated much, hehe.

I know what you're saying about needing friends for her.. I'm already worried she'll get lonely once she's here..! But I guess she's got my Moxies to talk to. And I'm also awaiting a 23cm Obitsu and a Little Pullip to turn into a hybrid, so they can be friends too, heehee ^^.

I'm even more excited now!!

P.S.: Where would my 6" Pam dolls fit in best? The Tinies subforum or the 'mixed batch' subforum..?

Yeah, getting your first BJD is nerve wracking and so exciting. I don't know when I will be able to get another one, but I have plans... :D
