Hello from Canada

Postby londonpeony » Mon May 09, 2011 11:08 am

Hello everyone. I have been reading all sorts of interesting bits on your board for a couple of weeks now, but it was the sewing machine review by victoriavictrix (which had me laughing so hard, I was crying) that convinced me to sign up.
I work full time, have a husband, four girls, three guinea pigs, a budgie and fish. Besides dolls, I like cooking and baking, reading, gardening, sudoku, House and Dr. Who (actually, I'm sure that I'm forgetting something, but, so be it).
I have loved dolls since I was little. As a child, I thought it would be interesting to try and make a porcelain one, but we couldn't afford that. I DID try making one using air drying clay, but I have no idea what happened to him......
Anyway, my favourite dolls are 1/6 or playscale, and of those, I tend to prefer play line dolls (what good is a doll if it's locked away in a box?). I have a ton of Mattel dolls simply because they are what were available for the longest time. I also have a couple of Sindy dolls (my best friend had those when we were young), assorted items from Jakks Pacific, the odd Bratz (only because they were in the lots that I was after). I also have one 1/6 Obitsu and one Dollfie, but I keep them out of reach of the girls; one Mozie Teenz Bijou, because she reminded me so much of my third daughter, and a growing collection of LIV girls.
My favourite dolls at the moment are the LIV girls - they are the closest I can currently get to BJD within budget - but that works out well, because when I have time, my girls and I get to play with our dolliehs (Grandma got them each a LIV girl for Easter).
I know the interest I forgot - it's sewing (I don't know how I could have forgotten that as the combination of dolls and sewing are what led me here in the first place)!
Goodness, this is long winded! I should probably stop now. Thank you for letting me join - I look forward to learning a lot here.

Welcome to the board! Glad we have another Who fan, and what's a bugdie?
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.
