I think you'll like a 60cm Obitsu. That was my first "big doll" and he's a very nice size. I'm only 5 feet tall but he's very comfortable to carry around. I'd take one of my 70s out more if they weren't so heavy, being resin. I'm not saying don't get a 40 cm either, I have one of those too.

If the people at DOA want to be babies let them have their bottle. There's a lot of unhappiness with how things are done which is just under the surface and it's going to backfire on them.

I don;'t have any large resins yet but I really like the size of my MSDs. I have a 60cm obitsu coming my way, but only because Cerise demands a normal sized body. The way I see it, a 60 cm Obitsu is probably easier to handle than a 60 cm resin BJD. They are lighter and not floppy if their joints are properly tightened. I'm actually quite scared of handling an SD resin BJD because they seem so awkward and hard to pose even though I love the sculpts and overall aesthetics. I'm only 5'10" so I'm not as tall as you are, but yeah MSDs!!!
Obitsu 27cm Meryl, Lilly, Rhea, Stacey, Llywen, Lara, Aili
BJD Peyton (Non-official sculpt Happy D.I.M.), Un-named FL Chicline Lishe
RS/BBB Li(Ziili), Wu(Ba'ul), Yao. DikaDoll Rena(Lael)
CH Bisou Pepe (Charlie), CH Junior Ren (Allen), Obitsu 60cm Gretel (Cerise)

Just for the record, the people who I was talking about (and Greyhaunt knows who) were people who were banned from DoA for either creating multiple accounts to get around a marketplace ban and continue to scam people, or others who have offered shoddy materials in trades, ran off with the other user's doll in a trade, ran GOs and ran off with money etc.... I mean people you wouldn't want to talk to, let alone buy something from. Really dishonest folk.

I totally understand how ornery DoA is. :( It's stupid, they keep deleting my posts because 'they have nothing of value' in them. So I've all together stop posting besides the MP trying to sell some stuff. Which really, is what I believe they are trying to do, the forum has gotten too big for them to handle, so they are trying to limit the users that are allowed in and how much they can post. :/

and have you noticed? How they've begun to compile threads together that have nothing to do with each other?

but. This is not a 'complain about doa' thread. So I must be nice.

Evelien wrote:That's what I did. And 30 of those got deleted for lack of usefulness, even those I asked questions in. Apparently I was posting too fast (20 posts in 3 hours), which equals spamming. I'm quite fed up tbh. Landwhale, if you're right, I'm not gonna bother. Heck, I might not even go for a BJD lol... I might get a big Obitsu once I have the money. Too bad the 40cm ones are more expensive than the 50/60cm ones, I think 50/60 is a bit too big for me... even though I'm really really tall myself for a girl lol (6'3").

Yes, well, to a certain extent I kind of understand their point - being a forum manager - we've had people basically spam post here just so they can get into our pathetically small swap meet. I mean literally, posting 5 word posts into threads that are months and months old...I seriously debated doing something about those folks, but in the end it would have been more work than it was worth for me to do, and I don't want to be like DoA LOL. They do get overenthusiastic in their jobs though - I don't envy having to deal with such a huge forum ;p

As for the 40cm - give it a bit of time and the price may drop :) When 50cms came out they were more than the 60s and since then the price has leveled out. Also, one reason it may be more is that the 40cm comes with a "designer" head. 60cm bodies come with a genuinely hideous and worthless head - so you end up having to buy a Haruka or Gretel or some other head for the doll. Once you've done that, the price is basically the same. But the 40cm comes with the adorable Alice head, so you dont' have to replace it with anything else :)

I understand too, that's not the point. I completely understand where they're coming from. I just believe they're taking it a bit too far. I'm 28 years old and I consider myself a friendly person lol, but I got put in my place like a 12 year old obnoxious kid. That doesn't feel too good.

I'm looking at a second hand 60cm Obitsu Gretel by the way. Found one for sale through LiveJournal for a decent price, apparently she's also offered on DoA but I can't see it lol. But I think I'm the first one interested, I commented on LJ before the thread on DoA was up... Please hope with me that I'll get her ^^. Not sure if the seller is OK with shipping her to Europe yet.

Oh btw, I like the Alice head but if I had a choice she wouldn't be my favourite :). So in the end I think I'd be swapping heads anyway.

I see both sides of the issue. On one hand, if someone is stealing dolls or scamming people out of their money or listing things they don't own or misleading people, then yes, I would want them banned here. I don't want to be scammed.

But on the other hand, there are the people that get bans or warnings for stupid reasons. I have 100% perfect feedback on Ebay and have a turquoise star (over 100 positive feedbacks) AND perfect feedback on DoA. However, I got a warning because my accessory thread was 'junk, of yardsale quality, not actual abjd items', simply because I had doll items that were not name brand. (So explain to me why its okay to list Barbie/Kelly stuff as tiny clothing or chop the top off a sock and call it an MSD tube top, even though it was not hemmed or otherwise embellished.....>.> )

Well, at 28 you're possibly the combined ages of all the mods. If I can remember what I was doing when you were born I'm going to think hard how much I want to have this discussion.

As for the tube top thing if you're a member of the $1000 doll clique the rules may be different. Could be worth studying if there are different rules people are held up to and what the criteria are. Or you can breathe a sigh of relief that your life is going well enough you don't have to attempt to over control what people post on a bulletin board.

For a lot of the situations of what is banned/what isn't, it seems to be what immediately comes to their attention, and which mod it comes to the attention of. Even though they all *should* hold the same rules, they are all different people and have their own interpretations of said rules. On just about any forum you'll see the same thing (for instance, one I mod on myself, two of the mods will delete spam as its posted, and others will make funny comments or edit the spam for their amusement, all of which falls under our own idea of keeping the forum clean and moving)
So for you, CloakedSchemer, it might be that a mod (or member with an itchy report button) that has certain ideas of what should be sold in the marketplace came across your thread and removed it, but the other threads selling socks and such just hasn't been spotted, or was looked over by a mod with more lenient standards.
As far as bannings go, I knew a local girl that was banned off of DoA for posting questions in the wrong topics two or three times on the very first few days she was on the forum. Went to look at her posts myself and I can see how, depending on the disposition of the mod, she could be taken as either a totally clueless newbie, or an intentional troll messing with the system.

Going back and reading over my last post, I would like to state, for the record, that I have NO issue with Barbie clothes OR sock clothing for bjds (and I have a few myself!). Just was using it as an example. but anyway, that's true, I suppose. Different mods have different standards. Though as a mod on a site, I tend to first talk with other mods before taking an action on a situation.
