A little light reading...

Postby Lokiholic » Sat Jun 04, 2011 8:25 am

I went to Borders yesterday hoping to find some doll magazines (I need something to kill the time before I start a shift at work) and managed to find Doll Collector and a magazine about Artist Dolls. Neither of them looked very interesting to me, unfortunately. :/ I'm looking for a doll magazine that I can hopefully see before I buy (so I'd love a list of likely places to find these) and that focuses more on fashion dolls, BJDs or the customization/making of dolls. I noticed that the person who runs DollyHair just started her own magazine, so if anyone has read it and can tell me if they think it's worth the price, that'd be awesome, too.

I'm open to books, as well. The ones I found when I was out yesterday were mostly based on Barbie and just pictures about what exists, and while I think that'd be interesting to look at, I'm not sure it's $30 and a large chunk of my bookshelf worth of interesting.

Book page on my site, I own or have owned a copy of everything here so I can answer questions. http://dolfielittles.com/book.html

I'd love to be part of a magazine or something, it's just figuring out what to write about and edit all my knowledge that mixes me up some times.

FDQ is an okay magazine. It features new fashion dolls - all sizes, convention reports and usually 1 project - doll wig, furniture, maybe a clothing pattern

Haute Doll was the best magazine for dolls and tutorials, but it is sadly now defunct (mourn :( )

Does this, will this, enhance my life or the lives of others?

Ack! I'm being overrun by Monster High dolls and frankendollies!

*Reads through list* Do-It-Yourself Coffins? Look like I don't have to get mine at Costco's anymore. XD
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

Got it for the dolls to make Xavier a coffin, then they sold perfect sized ones at Target. But it's great for wood workers, has plans and lots of step by step photos.
