Sniping on eBay, okay or not?

I see nothing wrong with sniping, especially if you really want the item. I'm the type of person who stays up til 3 in the morning watching a auction, making sure no one snipes me(or depending on the situation, make sure I am the sniper).

Bidding early tends to be a major cause of bidding wars and driving the prices up. My intention is to pay as little as possible and sniping is usually the best way to achieve that. It isn't unethical, immoral or illegal and if you lose, oh well, that's life! (Yes, for the record, I do lose a fair amount.)

hahah i know which auction you are talking about because of the previous conversation about the 50cm. I didn't bid since I can't afford it anyway so I don't bother to drive the price up. GOod luck wiht future bids.

Snipe? ME?? Never... oh, well maybe when I bought Mochiko... I say go for it, it is how the auction is done. I have dialup, so I usually do the buy it now, but I have been known to wait and snipe. I do also put my max bid in, and let ebay do it. Dialup.

Best answer yet, IMHO. If I am interested in an item, I will decide first off how much I am willing to pay and I will get my snipe set up. If I win, cool. If I don't, oh well. There will be another sometime. No biggie.

But it is a protection for me to not get into the last minute excitement of a bidding war. I used to do that and I would wind up paying a lot more than I had planned on in the first place ("just a couple of dollars more won't make that much of a difference!!!! bid bid bid"). If I have a snipe set up, then I have already placed my personal set limit and I leave it alone.

Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't. But that is all part of Ebay. Same as it is with any buying outlet.

I kick myself all the time that I didn't see a for sale thread or post on a forum, board, Twitter or Facebook - wherever - earlier and something I REALLY wanted has already been snatched up. But again, that is the way the cookie crumbles. You cannot win them all.

I am pretty sure that if it is a popular auction there are sniper-bots that you can use for it, and most serious folks do. The sniper-bots can place bids way faster than humans can.

Yeah, I pop in the max I am willing to pay and leave it alone. Otherwise I am going to suffer buyer's remorse. Auctions are evil that way.

Lols I'm pretty zen regarding auctions, since while I love a bargain, I have limits on spending money on dolls depending on the circumstances. If I win, I win. If I lose, meh, there's other stuff.

I think this doll wasn't meant to be mine indeed. I think I'm gonna make myself look in the EU only from now on because it saves so much money... Plus, if I'd have placed a higher bid I might as well have gone for a new doll instead of second hand. So, it's all good
