That Leo 2 would be sweet to have but alas, at £3200 GBP (about $5100 USD) it's WAAAAY outta my price range. I guess I'll have to settle for a much cheaper 1/35 scale version and a bit of clever photography.

FWIW, I don't agree with Mk 1's ad copy claiming that the Leopard 2 developed from the WW2 Panther. Post WW2 German tank development is so influenced by and in turn, influences Western tank development that it's difficult to draw such a conclusion. The only thing that's certain about the Leo 2's lineage is that it grew from the joint US-German MBT 70 project, like the US M1 Abrams, and its design was heavily influenced by research done in the aftermath of the 1973 Arab-Israeli War.
