Monster High dolls on TV

...not bring up that they're a little disproportinal. They'd have fun so why not?
I've played violent videogames since I was nine. I haven't got emotional problems except hereidtary ones, because my parents were responsible enough to tell me that its not right and that it should stay in the movies and games...idk

Win!! I just do not understand why people try to convince us that playing violent games or seeing "sexeh" dolliehs will make us horrible people...come on, we can tell that videogames are not real life (I actually think I read that kids as young as three know the difference between TV and reality. There's certainly research to show that "educational" programs don't really help young children learn more effectively...), and that people should wear clothing.
How can a child learn "slutty" behavior from a doll? They don't really have behavior for children to emulate, which is how children learn. Chucky excluded, they can't really make decisions...

By the time the little girls start growing up and be aware of human anatomy, one would think that they would figure out that humans don't look like Barbies or other weirdly proportioned dolls...

There was a lovely show on PBS called How Art Made the World http://www.shoppbs.org/product/index.js ... Id=2729315 which explains we are hard wired to emphasize features we like when making art of people. We like eyes so we can accept dolls with big eyes, we like legs so their legs are longer. Big head things that are cute to us have to do with our instinct to take care of babies.

Greek sculptors made statues that were too realistically human and viewers didn't like them so they had to go beyond and make them too perfect, longer legs, no tail bone and stuff. If Barbie looked perfectly human we'd kick her in to Uncanny Valley.

I really just don't see why the dolls are even an issue. There is far worse out there. They are exaggerated super anorexic looking scantily/trendy dressed creepy monsters, so what? Probably the same lot upset about harry potters oh so scandalous witchcraft and yughiohs koo~laide drinking demons. Even if you do think these dolls would be a bad role model or influence, which to me is laughable, A doll or kids show alone isn't going to have the sole factor that turned your 12 year old into a raging whore. More like it was your lack of supervision or your influence that had more impact there. But if you are just that deranged to think that your child is going to go off the deep end and try to become a blood sucking vegetarian *giggle* why would you buy them then? I would say that children that could be considered too young to be exposed to these dolls don't exactly have cash to buy them. So what's the deal? Any parent seeking an active roll in their child's life that doesn't approve of these characters will never expose them to their child. And really, I mean a bit of imagination never hurt anyone. I wanted to be Maleficent when I grew up but you don't see me wearing a big pair of black horns and trying to poison princesses. It's silly to try to make a big issue out of what isn't a problem. The dolls are clearly being sold or they would fail to make money. So there are buyers. I really feel that they are geared towards teens and adult collectors but I would also buy these dolls for my children if I felt they were old enough. Currently that would be a no, but in a few years no problem. These uptight too high standard/religious types need to just relax and stop trying to control everything available. Taking away or making illegal [enter choice here] doesn't mean people aren't still going to do/like/etc it.

A Sally monster high would be just the cutest thing ever! I saw a pink rag doll one with a button eye somewhere and thought that was so adorable!

BTW, playing with GI Joe as a kid lead directly to me being the violent, unstoppable killing machine I am today!

Like a lot of other folks here, I'd always thought Monster High was aimed at a somewhat older customer.

The only reason I wouldn't buy a Monster for my kid (lol), is if I thought they would be too young to handle it gently. They have small parts that I wouldn't want coming loose.

This could get back in to the just because your doll has a say something hat that you believe in and support such things. According to that logic I'd be a Dead Collector, crotchety doctor with a cane, and what ever Rian has decided to be this morning, possibly a carrot

I'd be more worried about a parent over sexualizing toys and teaching that to their kids, where's personal responsibility to raise your children by your values?
