I was the same way when Windwaker can out. *What I consider* ugly animation or figures just dosen't do it for me. They seem much too pointy and to me their eyes look soulless.

oddly enough I enjoyed the power puff girls and they were done similarly.

I dunno, I like the old Ponies myself, but the new ones are kinda growing on me, too. They're cute in their own way, and I JUST watched an episode of the new show on hub, and it's really cute, too. Some great voice acting going on there. Pinky Pie kinda scares me, but her VA actress is fabulous (I think she does a couple of the ponies).

I don't like that the new Ponies are half the size and twice the price that they used to be, but whatever. lol

Pinkie Pie is voiced by the same person who did Madeline's voice. And Fluttershy.


I simply adore the new ponies since I've been kind of edging around getting a pony and the show just pushed me over the edge. The characters are well written (and consistent! :O), they're all really distinctive, the show has fun plots, I seriously love the art style of the ponies and I simply adore it. *repeats self*

But I was a 90's child, so I didn't grow up with the older ponies.

some of us just desperately cling to the 80's I guess. When the re-did strawberry shortcake I had a conniption. I also heard they are bringing back thundercats. I'm praying they don't try to do an "update" on that *rolls eyes*

Sorry, I'm not picking on you saying this, but I see a LOT of people say it and its bugging me :< I have a stack of backcards from late 80s/early 90s ponies, with the price stickers on them. They're all at $5.95 or higher, most are $7. That makes the new ponies cheaper, even if only by a dollar.

The New Thundercats

As a Child of the Eighties, I have to say that while I do think the older designs work better as toys, the newer ones work better as a show. Especially with the writing. MLP wasn't that good. The episode where magical paint makes everything in the Pony Estate sentient which leads them to rebelling and throwing the Ponies out etched itself into my brain forever, and not in a good way. @_@ And MLP:FiM is (usually) internally consistent, which is awesome.

Also Lauren Faust (who made the designs for MLP:FiM) is married to Craig McCracken (made PPG, Fosters, probably other stuff I don't know). So yeah, similar styles and whatnot.
