It gets even worse when you're trying to expand their wardrobe. So many clothes to drool over, yet some are so expensive!

I get my doll money from doing extra work around the house, which means less guilt when buying something but taking forever to save up for expensive dolls.

Haha, yeah, I should follow your example and actually do housework to the extent my husband actually likes. He's an OCD neat freak. Maybe it will placate him into not forcing me to get a real job next year. I swear I'm trying, it's just a struggle to get myself out there and be like "hey! I have a product i think you'd like!...please buy? or consider?...spread the word?"
I think I need to team up with someone whose a big name in the dolleh community, if they'd have me ._. I might be setting myself too high there. I'm rambling now.

Back to topic.

I've recently gotten into seeing Mizuki in cute dresses, but my problem is exactly how you describe. It. is. expensive. i tried to make her stockings and it failed miserably. I wish I was better at sewing.

I totally failed at making Elodie a pair of stockings...and ended up being my Moxie Teenz's. Also, I failed at makijg the simplest dress ever.

All we can do is practice more, but each time it fails on me I feel like I've wasted good fabric. T_T

As long as I can remember, I have preferred jointed dolls. I played my New Dramatic Living Barbie to absolute DEATH, and I loved my Uneeda Dollikin in her own way as well. Now that I have Volks, Obitsu, Fashionistas, Livs and even Moxie Teenz, I will never ever ever go back to non-jointed. Ever.

Sadly, I came into this hobby as a snob. I was never a doll lover to begin with, and my couple of Barbies always annoyed me because I couldn't make them do what I wanted. I spent much time trying, very hard, to make them bend in ways they were not meant to.

I uh... Obitsu spoiled me with their articulation and as well as how solid the 50cm feels in my hands. I came into articulated dolls after dumping Barbie in favour of Action Figures almost 20 years back . My Obis give me non-Obis a run for their money so much so that I wish Obitsu would make a wider range of 1/6 bodies (Amazon, tougher slim males, nice looking regular male)

It makes really hard to pick up less articulated dolls (Pureneemos, Barbies, most 1/6 Volks) once you set up a standard.

One set of Fashionistas later my not as jointed Barbies who have been with me for a good 20 years are enjoying their new jointed bodies and the Fashionista heads are rolling around in a box. I won't pass up a non jointed doll if I like their face or get rid of ones that aren't. One of my most used Kens, Liam who plays Dr Chase in Doll House, is a Ken with bent arms because I haven't found a jointed body he likes yet. On the other hand Svetlana kept changing and changing until we found something she can live with.

On the other hand I've searched high and low to find just the right bodies for Jimmy, Nicholas, and Alan. It took three tries to find a Spider-Man. Everyone on my website can attest to the search for the "perfect" body and there still isn't one doll I'd say is the ultimate and much better than the others, only which ones break too easily.
