I'm getting my dream doll...

I didn't understand the Volks love either until I saw the limited editions. The standard sculpts all seem very plain and cartoonish to me.

Williams was my #1 grail doll, but there are a couple of others. One would be a Soom Mecha Angel Saiph boy. He's sold out on the Soom site now...booo. I wonder if they'll restock him. The other is another Volks LE, Hijikata Toshizô. The tentative plan is to make Williams into Souichi Tatsumi and Hijikata into Tetsuhiro Morinaga from my favourite manga, The Tyrant Falls In Love:

LOL, I usually don't look at the Volks or Soom or the more expensive end of BJDs, (when I want to get one, it would require insane amounts of saving up and browsing through Y!Japan auctions or have a DoA account for the Marketplace), but whenever I do see a really good one it's like "DAYUM, THEY DON'T HAVE THAT MANY FANS FOR NOTHING!" And I do like MSD Mire and Saber Lily (a grail I can only dream of having)...

Congratulations!! Honestly, I already have my "grail" dolls. Hazel is THE grail doll. I knew as soon as I saw her and I am so very happy!

I think I have all of mine now...First there was a Tan DZ Yuu: got him. Then there was the B&G Aurora: got her. Then it was a tan VMF Yamato: just got her. Can't think of anything I'm pining for. While I admire some volks dolls, I find that most of the time what I'm really loving isn't the doll, it's the costume LOL. I just need to do more sewing!

My dreamdoll is a DollLove Lincy, she was actually the first BJD I saw, but she's way too far away from my budget for me to even consider her right now and there are none that I've been able to find secondhand.

Oh well, one can dream.

Really? As far as resins go, her price is pretty low, isn't it? Or was there a limited edition fullset version or something?

Greyhaunt, I know what you mean about the costumes. Some of the companies really go all-out with the costuming, wigs and settings in their photos - none of which actually come with the doll! I always search out owner photos for that reason.

One thing that really sold me on Williams is the way the corners of his eyes are sculpted. Those little hollows between the eyes and nose are such a human detail that really make the sculpt come alive for me. I've since noticed that my DiM Arno boy has some similarity there. They'll look like brothers!

Congratulations! My grail doll would have to be a Dollfie Dream Alna White Christmas Ver. DDs usually don't have very mature-looking facial sculpts, so I fell in love when I saw her. Unfortunately I don't have her, and everywhere I look she's super expensive

She is pretty low yeah, but I think she came with a special dress I do believe that was gorgeous. I don't think it's available anymore Plus, it'd be hard to put out 200$ without shipping for her, I haven't found any American or North American dealers yet.

Plus my mom would pretty much laugh me out of the house if I tried to say I was going to buy her, she doesn't even like the two I've got now. So I'll get her one day I guess just not in the near future.

Oh, yeah, living with the 'rents can put a damper on such things for sure. My mother couldn't believe I spent around $100 for a Pullip, so I didn't dare mention the cost of BJDs to her...
