Honestly I just stay in the marketplace, box opening thread, and the discussion threads for the sculpts I do own. xD After my friend got harased mercilessly by another member, I just keep to myself.

Yep, those are the areas I tend to hang out. News, MP, Obitsu and DD threads and I read more than I post. It isn't particularly friendly unless you know your way around. But it is useful, so I just keep my head down there and bring my conversations here. lol

General advice for any forums:
- You can always lurk more.
- When in doubt about whether something is ok to post, do not post it. (If it's a potentially offensive comment, just keep it to yourself. If it's something you're not sure would be allowed to be discussed/linked to, you could consult a mod about it.)
- Always follow the forum rules, even if they're stupid. (See next point for example.)
- Make sure you've actually read the rules. I've seen people get banned for posting "I'm 12 and what is this" on a board that doesn't allow people to have accounts unless they are 13 or older... Even after the meme was brought to the mods' attention, each user had to prove their actual age to an admin before being allowed to get their accounts back. (Also posting your age on that board is against the rules, but usually only gets moderated a warning and a post-edit for first-time offenders.)

Join, post enough for the market place, use it for that and the galleries and picture requests. I just look at General Discussions and Picture Requests and hand out a height comparison picture I took years ago with samples of Tide.

The bad transactions section is good for checking every now and again too.

They fluster me from time to time, but for the most part my stay has been enjoyable. It's worth joining for the photos alone, and most of the people are decent.
I browse the MP, but have yet to buy anything there. You have to be on the prowl constantly if you want a bargain. The good stuff gets snatched up fast.

Oh and, on their facebook page there is now a survey that you can fill out on DoA.

I think they might be getting the hint and are taking away the criteria for on topic-ness. Also, they might be considering to be an 'any asian or ball joint doll can go here' type of forum. ? Dunno though.
