I stopped spending so much time at DoA after I got my Hujoo. It became a lot less fun when half of my (now rapidly growing) collection couldn't be talked about. I'm cool with their on topic/off topic rules but it stopped being my cup of tea. But I like the pretty pictures and it's always cool to see what people are doing with their dolls and when you can't find what your looking for(the right shoes, proper wig etc) someone there always knows what you're looking for and usually will point you in the right direction.

I think they might be getting the hint and are taking away the criteria for on topic-ness. Also, they might be considering to be an 'any asian or ball joint doll can go here' type of forum. ? Dunno though.

I wish I could believe that would happen.

I spend most of my time at DoA at the General Discussion forum. When I'm in an adventurous mood I'll peruse Dolly Debate. I do discuss Cherry there, but I make no mention of her actual composition, and the topics are always in response to somebody else's questions or comments about clothing, wigs, eyes, faceups, and such. So I don't get into TOO much trouble.

I can see keeping things like American Girls, Barbie and other fashion dolls out of the picture because that wouldn't help any but any modern ball joint and the other scales made by Obitsu and Volks ought to be allowed. I've PMed quite a few noobs trying to untangle Littles from on topics because their questions get locked.

Seriously? That's surprising. I post a lot in the over-30s thread and we all mention our ages all the time. I know I've mentioned mine a couple of times. Nobody has yelled at me or anyone else for it so far, at least that I'm aware of. Although we've been moderated for other things (posting too many pictures in one post, for example). I mean, I don't see the harm in posting our ages. We're all 30 and over so ... it isn't like a bunch of underage kids are there.

The board from my example was the ASMB, not DoA.
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

Honestly i don't really care all that much about how the mods at DoA decide whats on topic or not. My attitude is at the end of the day it is their forum and they can do what they want. I just think it's super unfortunate that when a doll is considered off topic it's as good as saying that doll doesn't exist on the Internet :( Trying to find pictures of an off-topic sculpt is sometimes literally impossible! It kinda feels like if a doll is off topic on DoA good luck trying to research it before you buy.

I'm really interested in some of the dolls off topic to DoA (impldolls robot Heloise comes to mind) and finding any owner pictures of her is nigh impossible lol

That's cool, I didn't know there was a 30+ group. I might have to stop in for a visit. :-)

Just an FYI - I'm going to close this topic now. No, no one is bashing, but we are starting to get into that "well this is why I don't go there" and inevitablly that will lead to the exact thing that we dont' want happening - which would be ironic considering this is a thread about that not happening LOL.
