Clothes for 27 cm non-petite boy?

Postby quidam » Sun Aug 14, 2011 6:09 pm

Okay, so I'm trying to prepare for my boy's arrival, and am looking for clothing. Going off of the size chart he will be similar to a DZ 1/6, so a bit bigger than normal. (I can post sizing if anyone wants in for reference)
I'm finding tons of girly clothes I love, but the boy clothes that aren't toddler style are sparse. As he'll be about 8 years old, he doesn't want fluffy teddy bear stuff! All I want are some normal boys clothes that don't cost a fortune.
Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Sweing them yourself FTW?
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

In theory it sounds good. Unfortunately I have the sewing skills of a drunken lemur.

I come across this problem a lot with my Obitsu's, especially for my boy. I'm trying to find some inexspensive, "edgy" type clothes for him but people mostly either sew for girls, or make casual wear. This is where getting crafty comes in handy.

Buy something that's close, and then maybe alter it as best as you can?

Ok, I owned a bunch of tiny DZs so I know the trouble of finding clothes >_< Some clothes I know that fit:

Most are maybe a bit too cutish for you but the pieces can be combinated in nice casual outfits. Pants should fit perfectly, the top could be a bit thight on the shoulders but the sleeve lenght, and waist fits DZs perfectly.

You can also try some narsha sized clothes, socks and underwear fit. The clothes (hoodies or long sleeved shirts) may be a bit long but they are not thight ( and actualy look kind of cute with baggier outfits)
And then you can comission someone to make an outfit. But I´m not sure if youre on doa >_< And it might get pricey..
Here and there are some cheap boyish clothes but finding something that fits DZ size is hard.

Anyway, I wish you a lot of luck on your search, and I hope to see some pics of your boy when he arrives n_n

I had a Souldoll resin boy and the only clothes I ever found to suit him were Ken clothes. The style of most is about right for an 8-year-old too.
Where did all these 1/6s come from?!

AppleMintPie- Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look into them! Also, you should post pictures of your tinies. DZ tinies are cute, but not many people seem to have them.

Glace Leau- Thank you for the suggestion. May I ask how the fit was? The one I have coming is thicker than a Souldoll tiny. I'm a bit hesitant about the Ken doll clothing because of the size.

I did notice that Angell-studio, that MoC has started carrying, also has tinies in the same size range, so I've been eyeing up their clothing.

Keeping in mind that my boy was the old-style Soul-Sweet which is thicker than, say, a Bambicrony, the shirts were baggy and the pants more or less fit at the waist but were a little bit long. You just might want to keep in mind that 2011 Ken, the newer collector Kens (like the Basics and Edward Ken) and vintage (pre-70s) Kens are all a bit thinner.

I don't know what the measurements of your boy coming in are exactly, but if you want I could measure some clothes.

I want to add that the Edward Ken doll has his head and torso painted in glitter. Thankfully, it's not in the plastic itself. *In case anyone was curious about the Edward Ken dolls >_> <_<
The legs are kinda thick on the Kens, I don't know how skinny DZ doll legs are compared to a Ken's legs, but I know my Slim Male Obitsu swims in his pants and when I try to put Obitsu pants on the Ken doll they don't really fit.

I'm starting to wonder if we're all better off on strechy material for our dolls so we could pull off a one-size-fits-all on certain scales. lol

Nah, not unless you find yourself being really bored!

Thank you and catshem for your help! Perhaps I'll find a cheap outfit and just pick it up and see what happens.

It's a bit frustrating not being able to find any owners out there. It leaves me with random buying and hoping for the best.
