I really just love the feel of resin. It's smooth and hard and pretty and if the light hits it right it glows a little. I like the weight of it. I've totally carried my 70cm around for several hours and even being a total weakling I didn't get tired of it. I like the looks of some vinyl sculpts and I'm tempted to get myself a nice Obitsu girl for the fantastic posability. Seriously I'm having a field day with the little 23cm Obitsu I got for my roommate. But I hate the feel of the vinyl. I really really hate the squish. I'm hoping I get over that at some point since vinyl does have so many perks, but for now I'm sticking with my resin and ABS.

Having owned both resin and vinyl dolls, I'd have to say resin. Not to say that I don't love my vinyl dolls as much. Vinyl tends to be more high maintenance with the whole staining issue. On top of that, the parts are more fragile compared to resin.

There's also the severe lack of variety in terms of body and head sculpts. I'm really particular about my dolls having different body sculpts to fit their character. Klar was the hardest to shop around for when I decided that I wanted to have him as a resin doll. XD

It's really a matter of personal preference. Each has their pros and cons. Just don't dismiss the other choice out of hand just because it's different. Try it, you may like it.

Both + ABS, Ford, Both, Neither(ewww).

Resin, Chevy, Mountain Dew, and Resin tastes great? I just like resin more because it makes them feel more... real. >.<;

Mountain Dew! OMG I'm addicted to that stuff. lol The White Out flavor is practically ambrosia!

And I prefer Chevy myself. I've owned 2 Chevys so far. and my car now is a Suzuki Grand Vitara, which is actually just the Japanese version of a Chevy Tracker. Seriously, they're exactly the same in and out. Parts are even manufactured in the same plant. I LOVE my car.

Anyhoo! My DDdy body arrived today (nice surprise; I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow at least). This is the first vinyl body I've owned in a few years (hopefully her head will show up tomorrow). She's actually a bit larger and heavier than I expected (bigger than an Obitsu 60cm), but still nothing like a resin. I think were she resin, her boobs alone would weigh at least a pound. XD

I actually love the look and feel of vinyl. It's more ... realistic? It doesn't have that smooth resin shine, it's more matte like actual skin so even if you use flash when taking pictures, it doesn't come out the way resin does, like blinding white in some cases. lol Also, it doesn't yellow quite as easily, if I recall, so sunlight isn't as big an enemy. That's also a plus. Staining is still a minus. So is the ... mmmm ... fragility? I mean the inner skeleton. I'm being very careful with posing her so I accidentally don't snap something. But the skeleton = awesome posing (although DDs aren't quite as adept as Obitsu for that).

Oh, and finding heads is a minus. Let me rephrase: finding CHEAP heads is a minus. lol It's next to impossible to find a customized DD head for a reasonable price on Ebay (someone was asking $750 for just a HEAD), and I have no idea how to use Yahoo!Japan. Luckily I managed to snag a nice head off DOA marketplace for only $75 plus shipping. Good thing, too, 'cause my Haruka head doesn't fit and she looks a bit pin-headed on that tall DD body, anyway. lol

Not enough variety of sculpts in (1/3 scale) vinyl.
ERRRRRRRRRRRRR!

You're comparing 1 1/2 companies (Obitsu and Volks) to all the other doll companies combine. Of course those almost two companies aren't going to have a wide enough variety to satisfy everyone. You could say the same thing about any other doll company.

"Doll Zone doesn't have a wide enough variety in their head sculpts."

For all you multiple (resin) doll owners, do you limit yourself to the offerings of only one company?

I love all dolliehs :D
But so far, of the four(!) I have now, each and every one has ended up as...Bobobie. I go looking for a new doll, fall in love with one, and hey! Guess what? It turns out to be Bobobie. Their sculpts are so pretty <3

Nope. I pretty much hunt out parts and pieces to fit my needs. My collection is all over the map, and two of them are hybrids (one is Korean-Chinese, and the other is Korean-American). XD

I try, the Obitsu was kind of an accident? :P

Nope! Two of my three resin are Resin Soul but that's because the Bei was such a sweetheart and I could afford to impulse buy her and I looked forever for the right doll for Dani's character and it kept coming back to the Dai. My next resin is a long way off from now but will probably be from a company I haven't bought from yet since none of their sculpts work for the character, but we'll have to see what they come out with by then.
