As for Belle's dress look in to what she wears at the theme park and the stage shows, they match the toon a lot better. In general the doll is intended for children so they need to make something that will last, which makes no sense because the outfits in the box o' princesses are shredding if you look at them funny :/ I'm going to have to get a gallon of Fray Check.

Now the time period seems all over the place because Belle's gown looks to be from the mid 1800's with the round skirt and the gathers. I have some glittery tulle in my want to make one, I'd do an underskirt then a gathered transparent overskirt. I've seen some fashion plates of regular gathers like that. Won't go further in to the all over the time line as long as it's through a modern filter Disney look.

And all I can say about BBTS is their shipping can be a smidge much because they pack for Fanboys who never open their toys. My 1/6 Phantom and hi packing materials came in a box a 1/4 or 1/3 doll could have fit in to.

Not quite my thing but the do seem interesting. Maybe if they weren't so top heavy.

Haven't seen one myself, but opinions on the action figure boards are mixed. The biggest complaints are careless finishing on the body seams, and that the joints under the body feel rather fragile. Substantial complaints, considering how much these dollies run.

The 2.5 Articulated Barbie Basics are on the barbiecollector.com site. Can't be much longer until they are in the stores tho supposedly Elvis Barbie actually has a slightly better body.

Tiana looks so nice. :3
I can't wait to see these guys in person.

@wardah: Are the new basics bodies that they are using the fashionista ones? Or maybe an upgrade of them?

Oh... And I remember that some one had posted around christmas last year that they had wanted one of the large disney singing princesses. I have no idea who that was, but they are on sale now on disney store.com (for $15):

Just saw some at the mall, they reminded me of the Tonner-Orientdoll crowd. Very pretty looking and that is a great price.

I'm probably in the minority, but I really do like the Fashionista (non-Swapping) best of any of the posable bodies. The upper torso joint adds a nice bit of extra posability, and the torso- except for the molded skivvies- just has prettier lines. Pivotals are just a bit too thin to be a mature woman's body, even allowing for fabric. Fashionistas have hips and curves, albeit slender ones. (Again, this is probably a minority opinion- ModelMuse bodies do nothing for me, but many collectors adore them.)

That being said- I finally like the Louboutin head mold. :) Yes, the blonde 2.5 just arrived and she's lovely. Mattel, *please* continue the Basics past collection 3....

Hmm, I might look in to an Elvis if her price comes down, or the Pirate chick.

My Svetlana is on a non swapping 100 poses, what ever the "best" body is IMO at the time she gets it. If those arms were on the Twirling Ballerina and she had high heel feet they'd have a winner. The ballerina has a nice natural waist joint. Aside from being cheap, the more joints the more mold pieces etc, I don't know what Mattel's problem is. If they put out a perfect body at a decent price, and it had high heel feet, they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough. Same thing with a decent Ken.

I really want one of the Pirates of the Caribbean doll for Sparrow, but I feel bad paying $35 for an outfit. >.>
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.
