Supposed to start Saturday evening, then the s**t hits the fan Sunday. We finish preparing today and then make the decision to stay or leave. We are leaving if they tell us to, though.

Some good news. It's weakend and they believe over time it will weaken more. Slowly but hell, that's better than getting stronger! Our chance of hurricane force winds have gone down to 2% (very good) we're now more likely to get tropical storm winds than hurricane, again, very good. We still have o worry about trees and some flooding obviously, but the chances of the house being ripped apart by hurricane winds has gone down.

This is the best news I've had all day as we've been packing things up and taking inventory for insurance.

Some sort of relevant news: My cat has a new collar and ID tag (for the storm, on the hopefully not happening chance that I lose him) and he' weirded out by it. He doesn't wear collars. lol

That's good to hear Cat! We're still stuck in hurricane force, we'll still be getting strong Category 2 winds.

Not to excited but it's doable.

AT least it's lessened. Are you still evacuating or no?

Yeah I saw that it was weakening. Maybe it will be fine when it gets to you.

We're almost done with the stormproofing here, have the house cleaned out to keep everything simple and easy to find, candles lined up along the counter, bottles of water and premade food set up. Just have to get some wood loaded up for our woodstove for cooking without power, get the generator set up, and move the heaviest stuff thats still left out in the yard. We actually have one of my dad's coworkers staying with us for the storm, his apartment was in the area evacuated and his family is all the way down in North Carolina.
