I wrap my dolls in old super soft baby blankets and usually put them in a reusable cloth bag.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

If I'm taking more than one... I have an MSD doll carrier from Dollmore. They claim it is designed for one... but I easily fit three MSDs and two tinies... I have fit as many as four MSDs and a tiny in there. The bigger boys have face up protectors and everyone gets wrapped in white cloth.

If only one is going with me, to school for example, I put on the face up protector (for the MSDs) and wrap in white fabric, they ride in my school bag. For the two trips to Europe I've taken... I do the same thing, they sit in my backpack or messenger bag.

Since my folks are all 1/6 scale, they normally go in the book bag my wife and I take with us on road trips. No special precautions other than to not take any small, easily lost or broken accessories with them. I have on occasion piled a few of them in a Sterilite "Show Offs" plastic storage box/tote. My preferred version is the model 1874, which had more secure latches than the earlier model. Unfortunately, the earlier style is all I see at retail nowadays.

I have my super-cute case for them. It's about the size of a big lunchbox and was originally made for holding makeup, so it's got a mirror in it. I think the girls don't mind that. :p

On my lap >.<
Recently, though, we discovered that the fold-out style cupholders are the perfect size to be a little travel seat for an MSD...all that means is that I'll have to drink less soda.

Crammed into bags >D

Honestly though, I have two company bags, a yoga mat bag, and a backpack that will fit my entire crew safely. For more daring trips, I've managed to fit all but one (because I didn't have him at the time) into a swanky reusable shopping bag. It's more convenient to have them all in one bag, but it wasn't very secure and dear lord, it was heavy. The straps of the bag left really nasty bruises on my shoulder. XD

Only two of my dolls have faceup protectors, but I pretty much never use them. orz But I'm getting into the habit of it, since my Romeo's faceup got scratched something awful earlier this year.

It depends where I'm going/what I'll do when I get there. For long trips, I have a black hard case lined with foam, which (we think) used to be used for tools. For shorter, or safer, trips, I've lined a shoulder bag with the doll pillow my Mei came with and sit her in it, or just fold her up carefully into a crouch position to go into REALLY tiny bags (which is probably a bad thing to do). Always a face protector, too!

At Home: Little Ari (Resinsoul Mei), Gilan (Resinsoul Song), Mina (Jun Planning Ai Cosmos), Yukiko (5StarDoll Tong Tong), Julia (Hujoo Yumi), Lion'a (Hujoo Suve), Ella (Jun Planning Hestia Isora), Mint (Fairland Pukifee PongPong, "unnamed thus far" (Hujoo Nano Freya)
Wish List: Delf Ani, Resinsoul Yun/5StarDoll Angelo (f.), Island Doll Emily, BJD Hamster pet

With a new boy on the way...I think I might have to invest in a bag to carry my dolls in to places. I almost lost Haruka in our bag alone on the Fourth she fell apart into pieces...Her waist was in one spot, her wig another and her legs almost fell out right there in the middle of the show...Think I'm gonna have to use my purse to carry at least two of 'em.

(All my dolliehs are 1/6th scale.)
