This will fit an Obitsu?

Postby MitisFeles » Sun Sep 18, 2011 6:03 am

I rediscovered my passion for dolls six or seven month ago, and after a pair of customized Barbies I feel this time the right to order my first BJD. I'm 95% sure that she will be a 27 cm Obitsu body with a pixie head, thanks to the lovely photos that I have see here; but I want a boy for her too. So the "this" in the title is a boy doll and not an item ^_^'''
I don't like Obitsu boys: the Ares head is nice but the bodies are...bah, especially if you search a "manly" man like me. I searched the Volks site and I found the guys are better, but searching more I found the basic Hot Toys True Types, and I immediately fell in love with this one.

I love the headsculpt, but I have a terrible doubt: he will make a good pair with an Obitsu pixie or he will look too realistic for her?

JanetT mixes up her dolls. You can check out what some of the different dolls look like together here.

O_o They're amazing! The action figure tipe looks only occidental and/or older compared to the other dolls, I think I can adopt this True Type guy without too much worrying. Thank you May!

I'd suggest photoshopping the two of them together in photoshop to see what they look like together
I personally think he would look to realistic but that could just be me it doesn't nessarly mean he would look bad paired up with a less realistic doll like an obitsu girl

I think they'd look cute together! Keep in mind, if you think that the Obitsu style won't be realistic enough, that the faceup can really change the way they look. Someone on here has a 27 cm girl with red hair, and I thought she was an MSD of some kind, before I found out how small she really was!

Like what kurosu.chan said... the right face up can work wonders. Besides, what we think doesn't really matter, it's what YOU want and like. If you are in love with this... GO for it!!! And take lots of pictures for us. ^__^

Thank you all for your replies!
I tried to confront the two dolls images pasted together as animeangel suggested and they don't seems contrasting: the things that worried me is if in the physical proximity the effect will be the same or they will seems "two world colliding", but the Exalted photostory by JanetT eased a lot my doubt.
As Yanagi.sen and Kuroso.chan said, face-up does a lot and I was already directed toward a realistic make-up (I choosed the pixie because besides the pointed ears she has more natural proportion than the Gretel head), probably in the end they'll seem a young Asian/Corean woman with strange pointy ears and a caucasian boyfriend 10 years older XD I look forwards to post her photos ^_^
Anyway, I actually have only one male doll, a John Smith from Pocahontas that needs a rerooting, so this guy will be really the welcomed: when my customer will pay me for the three Naruto t-shirt I sewn I'll order it XD

To get back to the original question about a Hot Toys True Type working with an Obitsu. I have both. I would consider the HTTT to be an "extra large" in the general size of things, a taller than average man. They are very nice well built figures, it just might be a bit of a challenge to find well fitting clothes for him. He can't share with Ken that much. The Obitsu girls are a bit shorter than Barbie.

My tribe is packed up at the moment but I guess he would be about a head taller than her. They can work together.

I pre-ordered a Hot Toys charater figure and I'm so excited to see all the cool poses he can do. :)
The one you picked out looks very handsome. :D
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.
