@ DollyKim:
I'm very happy to read that Hot Toys TT are taller than the average, because I wanted a very tall men in my collection ^_^ About clothes I discovered some sellers that sell only some parts affordably priced of the complete box set Hot Toys, like the uniform pants of Terminator T1000, the chinese jacket and pants of Bruce Lee and similar... I plan to buy the things that I cannot sew myself, like a pair of boots and pants, and do myself t-shirts and similar.

@Gift: I'm sure this one is modeled after some actor (like the one modeled after Heath Ledger that I saw in a photo in Reinassance clothes, very awesome!) but I cannot recognize who he is...

Omg that guy is hella sexy!!! He looks a bit like Jake Gyllenhaal to me. <3 Jake Gyllenhaal!!

-edit- I googled for a bit and I think he's meant to resemble Jake indeed..? Not sure yet. Will do some more googling.

OK, this thread is re-opened and hopefully back on track. Most of my edits were simply to maintain continuity and keep the thread within the context of the original post. For those of you feel your posts no longer reflect your "voice" or original intent, please feel free to edit accordingly or post additional comments.

Back to the question at hand, I like the Hot Toys males although I have to admit that I don't actually OWN any of them! I think the question comes down to whether the more "doll-like" appearance of an Obitsu would look OK with the more realistic "scale model" appearance of a Hot Toys figure. For my part, I think it would work fine but it's a matter of individual aesthetics. In fact, I could see using the different styles of dolls as a way to distinguish them as individuals and maybe emphasize their "alien" nature in regards to each other (he's a human, she's an elf, for example).

In my own "doll world" however, I decided to go for a sort of consistent, more toy-like look for my cast. This is partly for economic reasons since I can use older figures I already own but it's also because I deliberately chose to play up the juxtaposition of toy-like figures paired with more realistic clothes, accessories and such.

Hot Toys males look quite well done. they have a wide range of skin tones. Would love to rehome two of my males to the bodies but I can't stand the way the ankle-foot joining looks. These two guys tend to run around barefeet.

@Mlatch221: I see the point in your choose for your doll's cast, the contrast between toy look and realistic clothing and accessories is surely fascinating ^______^
@Iwa_Hoshi: I don't like the ankle joining too, but luckily my boy has to be some kind of adventurer/mercenary, so he will go around in combat boots XD

My entire childhood doll's collection was gifted to a younger cousin by my mother, and only a Pocahontas and a John Smith were left (and the really need a rerooting, I hate how too delicate hair fibers glue together in years of neglecting). So when starting my new hobby I had to rebuy some dolls, and actually my cast is composed by:
1) An Angel Friend's Dolce that I bought for 6 euros in a discount store, turned in a Yoko from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann;
2) A lot of 20+ used dolls, the greatest part in bad conditions, that I plain to turn in OOAK works; I only adopted in my collection right as they were two Witch dolls;
3) A WIP Lita Halford from Brutal Legend: she had tattoes, a new hair cut and some make up, but I'm still working on the outfit.
The Obitsu 1/6 pixie is still incoming: I choose for her white body and light purple eyes, and two wigs: the first black and curled and the second a long straigh red wine. One for "vintage" looks and one for fantasy ones, in my intention.
Except for my Lita, that's currently more like a young metalhead Barbie, and the Obitsu with her round but proportionated head, the other girls have all an anime look, with big eyes and a delicately oversized head. I wanted from the start to support my girls with some male presence, but I don't like any model of Ken, and the My Scene and Monster Hight boys seems to me to have bad proportions. Probably after adopting this Jake Gwyllehall (lol!) guy I'll order a more "animeish" counterpart from the Volks site, to reflect the two trends of my actual collection.
Anyway, I'll post soon photos of my actual limited collection, even if you can already find some Lita and Yoko photos on http://deedeesteele.deviantart.com.
Maybe you can help me recognizing some of the doll's brands: Lita, Yoko and the two Witches have a very nice body with small round breast, a delicate neck and small feet with sculpted fingers (!) that I never seen before in any doll.

Yoko looks awesome! I couldn't get into Gurren Lagann but Yoko is such a great example of iconic character design and your doll really captures her look.

Just wanted to point out that there are no rules, and you can do whatever you like. I have even seen photostories that mixed BJDs and plushies, and everyone loved them. I mix resin and vinyl all the time in my stories. So do whatever you like! :)
