Most of my 11"/27cm 1/6 scale Volks & Obitsu dolls are in glass curio cabinets, my 1/3 BJD are all sitting atop my dresser in couples, in front of my mirror; my Sleeping Beauty 22" Tonner is just standing on the floor near my window, my other 'odds and ends' (Tonner Gambit & Rogue, some loose favorite old Barbies, etc) are in my closet on shelves in there. I have a few dolls that I keep in their boxes, which happily, are pretty enough to display themselves. ^^ (Franklin Mint Sandy from Grease, Gibson Girl Barbie, Gambit & Rogue Toybiz 11.5" dolls, Gambit & Rogue 8" Toybiz dolls (like Mego style) and a few others)

The only dolls I feel bad for are my 2 Tonner 14" Elizabeth Bennet and Sleeping Beauty. They're just shut up in their 'shoe box' like boxes. :( So they can't be seen unless you open their boxes! I may eventually take them out, too but for over a year now, they've been shut up in their non-window boxes. ^^ Poor girls!!!!

If the doll isn't painted yet or is in line for work then it may be in a box until I get to it just to keep dust and pet hair off of it. Otherwise they pretty much take over my apartment LOL. They are on bookshelves, cabinets, the back of the couch, the edge of the coffee table - you name it, there is probably a doll sitting on or around it. :)

For the 1/6 scale -- some are sitting/standing/kneeling around on various flat surfaces -- shelves, the doll stage, around the sewing machine, etc. I have a big shoe-hanger on the back of the door, and those pockets are a good size for them, too. And some (action figures with molded hair or unfinished) are in a plastic drawer thingie. My roommate keeps hers in boxes (usually two or three together in an action figure's original box) in a cabinet. (I also have a bunch of them -- mostly Mattel dolls that I don't do much with anymore -- in storage....) I also have a number of plastic drawer units for things like clothing and props and furniture, etc. for setting up the stage.

The 1/3 scale ones are harder to find room for -- I have a display/seating area in the living room, where they share a big rocker and side table, either sitting together on benches or in 1/3 scale chairs or with stands. I should move them, because that area is not protected from sunlight, but I don't have a lot of other options right now. The white-skin dolls tend to hang out on my dresser (either sitting or standing with support), the bedroom gets very little sun, and that's where the sewing machine is anyway, when I'm working on stuff. Their props and clothing are mostly in plastic bins, but I really need to organize them better -- their stuff takes up much more space.

I don't like to keep dolls in boxes, because you KNOW that just makes them neurotic... You've all seen TOY STORY 2, right? (Though right now two of my big dolls are still in boxes, because they're un-assembled and unfinished...)

Sometimes one of the small ones comes in to work with me, just to pose on my desk and look cute.... The Obitsus travel really well!

Well... after reading alot of the replies here I noticed alot of shelving units and cabinets are used. I am not in either of the slots for this, I have mostly 1/3 scale people, and they are mostly tan as well . So that being said, I have mine in a dark room usually in their beds because they seem to take up less space that way. I honestly thought that I would be o.k. with the box storage for my tan, but nope, even if I don't do photo-stories as much as I once did and would like to do again, I find myself feeling like I would be killing them if I did put them in the box, even if it's for the preservation of their beautiful skin tones.

So....long story short, they are in my bedroom which is always dark and they are in their own beds.

Well, Hazel is always out and usually running around too. All of the Obitsu (large and small), and all but the 2 floating heads and 1 unassembled doll are also out in the living room. The little are either on the TV or on a shelf. The big ones tend to sprawl a bit. I try to banish them periodically to the parlor and their own beds, but somehow they always sneak out. Hazel and Elidor have their bed in the living room and it doubles as a couch (with awsome pillows and blankets by Sweetest!) Lily and Alerich also have a double bed in the parlor (again, thank you Sweetest). There is also a metal three shelf unit on a vintage deco end table that is a bunk bed set for some of them. All of them actually do have beds, but don't always want to sleep. My house is usually dark, so I am not really worried, and the only tan doll I have is a Dollzone YoSD with a custom head on her. The Gene's and Barbies are either displayed on a shelving unit in my bedroom or a shelf upstairs unless they are packed up - and those will probably be sold as soon as I get around to it. The antique and vintage dolls are in a vintage glass case. I am sure there are more about, dolls are everywhere. There is also a wall mirror shelf unit that is covered in Sailor Moon dolls. Yep, gotta get them all!

Can you imagine what Hazel would do if I dared to put her in a box??!! She doesn't even like traveling in a bag!

Mine justkinda lounge in their bunkbeds... they've become as lazy as I have and haven't come out of bed ><

Transportation depends on what dolls you have - I've used a cheap zippered hardshelled lunchbag with cushions around the doll, for my little Popo fox, since she's so tiny. My little obitsus I'm not so afraid of breaking, so I carried them in a separate plastic bag (so nothing would scratch their faceups off, inside the bag) and just made sure they didn't bash into anything. my bigger MSD/SD guys I have a BJD protective case... though I have transported my BBB Apollo and MSD Reli in a duffle bag, wrapped and tied into their cushions (that they came with) and clothes or other soft objects I happened to take with me, surrounding them. (I did this when I took them on a plane as carry-on). My Yuu and other less-flexible dolls I use an SD sized hard case made by DollZone... cushioned in their cushions and strapped in by the straps on the inside of the case.

Kikichan has taken multiple 50/60 cm obitsus with her in a rolling case by taking advantage of their hardiness and ability to be taken apart by well.. playing tetris with them in the case and interlocking their bodies (taken apart if had to) and making it a nice good squeeze.
Akihito [DZ Yuu], Red [ED Red], Sweetpea [DF Popo], Apollo [BBB Apollo], Reli [B&G Sharon], (phoenix) Efriete [B&G Afra], (human) Efriete [Migidoll Miho], Seth [Migidoll Ryu], Horus [Obitsu 50cm].

60-70 the Dollzone bag, with a mini or two and whomever else can fit in. The Littles have a wheeled Barbie bin to travel in. If it's just a mini, especially Xavier, he has a coffin. Did take a small batch of Littles in the Duck Tap TARDIS wrapped in a towel. Dad did DIsneyland in a purse.

One doll I can carry but the 70 twins have done a stroller when out together, I'm not shouldering both of them at the same time.

Several ways -

THE BAG! It's a Hello Kitty yoga bag, and I can fit up to 4 or so of the big kids in it. Hazel insists that it's too small, even if she's the only on in it. Elidor, who is a 70cm DZ boy, fits fine so she has no excuse. When I took her to New York with me, she had to ride in it as carry-on along with my spare clothes.

COPY PAPER BOXES and PLASTIC TUBS. Going to a doll meet is interesting when they ALL want to come. So they all sit in the tub or box and hold smaller dolls on their laps.

And of course, the usual option - I carry the doll. Hazel frequently rides between the front seats in the car. If there is room she gets a seat belt too. If there are more than one, they usually share a seat belt.

From this, you can guess that I don't worry about yellowing. My husband and I actually cast in resin. Even in a closed box with no light the resin will eventually yellow. I would rather enjoy my dolls and not worry about them. Some of them are kept in darker places than others, but the Obitsu just have fun, as does Elidor.
