Oh it's way more than that.

"The Delphian Society was formed in Chicago around 1910 to promote education in the arts, literature, and history in a specially-designed format directed at women specifically. Chapters of the Delphian Society opened across the country. This ‘Delphian Course’ was a combination of book club and correspondence course, involving a condensed library/encyclopedia, and course guides for running a meeting and how to discuss their scheduled readings. The meetings were deliberately non-scholarly; while the members were required to present what they’d learned during their assigned readings, prepared notes and outlines were discouraged and members were encouraged to speak briefly from direct knowledge and understanding rather than reciting a prepared speech."

If you have all 10 volumes I would be really interested in it, DK.

Thanks for the info and I have at least 1 set of 13 volumes, from 1928, and possibly a second set. Found the first 8 of those. I just want to scan them then I can start figuring out how much they'd cost to ship.

*Make that 15 volumes with English novels dating from 1928, will snap pics of he stack when I have light. And it's gets more interesting, the 10 volume 1913 set is on line at Google books and Archive.org but they seem different then the set I have from the 20s. Looks like I'm going to have to make a copy. If/once it is public domain I'll put them on my website to share the knowledge. Too many of my grandparents' books have gone to waste in boxes in the garage.

Ghoulia ponders where to begin.

**Even more curious, I listed what's in my set of books as opposed to the original 10 volume set and they don't match at all, as if mine are a continuation or something http://dolfielittles.typepad.com/blog/2 ... stery.html

When I was out running errands, a cashier asked me if I was a Brony. He thought my Windy Thing shirt from Homestuck was a Rainbow Dash shirt. I love wearing nerd shirts

DK that is amazing. When you get done scanning (and good on ya!) besides on your website send a copy to Project Gutenberg and one to Archive. They'll find someone to clean it up and put it into other formats.

And I would still love to have them when you are done with them. This is the sort of thing that is invaluable for someone doing historical fantasy.

I've found that 1 they're still in copy write so I can't post and 2 Hathi Trust http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/007687406 which has the other set has a connection to a set at the Library of Congress. You can only do a limited search on the second set at the moment but obviously they'll have the full text when it's public domain. That saves me a ton of work because I have a garage full of other books to deal with.

So I'll see when I can fit in a trip to the shipping store to get a quote and PM you, it will be lovely to see these being used after all these years.

And if anyone else is interested there is a second partial set of the books Vols 1-8

Update - the GO leader finally checked in and has assured us (pretty much) that our packages are due to arrive Weds and were held up because of a technical problem at their main postal facility. She was out sick for the past week, also. So, I'm holding out for Weds to see if the package gets here.

I'm bummed. Looks like a couple dozen or so people (including me) on DOA may have been taken by a fraudulent group order. Warning flags went up when the GO I was part of here by Sixoclock went through without a hitch and arrived within just 5 weeks . . . but I didn't want to think badly of the DOA group order leader . . . stupid of me. I've been stung by the same technique on eBay, so you'd think I'd know better.

Losing the money is bad enough, but I ordered 3 event wigs, 2 of which were for my new Limhwa twins. I will probably never be able to replace those wigs!

What brings people to the point that they are willing to do something like this to others?

just paid off my Resinsoul Light Tan yun... still need to pay shipping though.

I'm a bit sad because she's skinnier than most SDs so if I make clothes using her as a model they might not fit other dolls.

but she's sooo pretty o3o

Yeah that is the problem with Resinsoul. But! I've found that if you make the clothes out of stretch fabric, and don't make them super tight they will fit bigger dolls as well.

I'm really really nervous about getting her ._.

so worried I won't like her and it's almost twice as much as I paid for my other doll

but I've already paid for her and there's nothing I can do about it now?

I am hoping I'll feel better when she gets here.

aieee so nervous and scared
