What's your Name?

Back when I started getting involved in online listservs and forums (for RPGs, at first), I figured I was 20 years older than most of the other posters, who tended to pick names of their favorite characters (in the game, or movies, TV, etc.) or other things that sounded "cool" to them. I didn't feel a need to sound cool. I couldn't think of anything clever, didn't really think adopting the identity of a published character was all that original, and just decided, the hell with it, I'm not going to worry about how anonymous I am.

So I've almost always used a variation of my real name. Boring, I know.

On the other hand, it means occasionally I get fan mail, because people who read things I wrote ten and twenty-plus years ago can find me. So that part ain't bad.

Me? Hmm. Well I kinda have two. One sorta gave birth to the other. Some know me as KnittingDragon. People actually call me Knitting. It came from a character who has a complicated family history but her father was a red dragon. She was a professional lacemaker (See where this is going) And knitting fine wedding ring shawls was how she made her money.

Yes, I knit, I also Tat, crochet, bobbin lace, hairpin lace, Spin yarn and even weave a bit.

Well a friend of mine got me into Lolita and wanted me to make the lace for her dress. YARDS of lace. Yes I did it. No she never paid like promised and she has since moved. Ugg. But I kept with me being the Lolita Lacemaker as well as the Knitting Dragon!

When I was in college and the Sci Fi Channel was still called that and had a bulletin board system, I signed up and needed a username. The was WELL before Twilight, which means I have been able to be Eseme various places that matter to me (thank heavens, because these days it is grabbed by a Twilight fan on every new service very quickly).

I intended on Esme. As in Esmerelda Weatherwax, who I thought was just so cool. (Yes, even as a late-teen fangirl, I picked the name of an old lady. I'm cool like that.)

A typo happened. I couldn't log on until I checked my email and realized that my fast fingers had invented a new and hard-to-pronounce name.

Thus, Eseme!

Mine is an old nickname I got in my days as a practicing Demonologist. It's because my dad's nickname was the Soul Reeper (He's dyslexic, so it's not rEAper, it's rEEper, it trips a lot of people up). I was 6 or 7 when I wanted my own nickname, and I was small, so Lil'Reeper is was. When I got to the internet, it became Lilreeper. In my day I was easily findable by people who wanted to learn about Demonology and the like because no one else had this nickname. Ha.

I've got lots of random screennames,but I usually stick with something partaining the name "Kirakishou" especially when it comes to doll forums. I'm a terrible big fan of Rozen Maiden. Mainly the idea of Alice and Kirakishou herself. For my SN here and on DoA (.Chibi.I.Kirakishou.),I used a totally nerdy Rozen Maiden fact. Kirakishou eats Hina Ichigo in the manga..and I'm also super tiny (4'11). That's about it really lol

Well, my first AOL username (created circa 1998, my second grade year)was startwin101, because I'm a twin, and I like stars, though the meaning behind "star twin" was that I couldn't remember the names of the Gemini twins And the 101 came from 101 Dalmatians.

By middle school I'd realized that startwin101 was not the coolest SN. At the very beginning of high school (when I first created my gmail account, circa 2005) I wore a choker necklace all the time that, according to my friend David, looked like a flea collar. So he called me "flea collar" because he was very creative. lol The 999 is from 666, only upside down, which is a little joke between my twin and I.

Then I just used fleacollar999 on every site ever because no one else has used it. So if you want to look me up on any site ever, just look for fleacollar999!

And by the way, you can call me "Flea". That's my internet name, and it's terribly creative.

I think I first used the name on FanFiction.net, back when I was heavily into Final Fantasy Crisis Core. My favorite character was Genesis Rhapsodos and his main color was red. Shinku=Red. Rhapsody=Rhapsodos. Not so much into FF anymore, but the name's better than what I went by before [ManyChronicles on some writing sites... X( ].

Nothing very interesting- my husband has called me Kitty for years.Then an X-Men/Wolverine fan who joined our circle of weirdos dubbed me Katya, as Shadowcat has always been one of my favorites in the X-Verse. When I started poking around online, I took that name and added my last-name initial to it. I do have a few other tags, most of which have a feline element- if you see cygirlkat (various places) or Kitty in IN (Barbie boards), it's me! I keep another completely unrelated tag for my political reading and posting, and *never* use my full real name in posting. Which is kind of silly, since my husband uses his real name everywhere and mentions me by name from time to time- but we all have our mental blocks to play with, and that's just one of mine.
