Dollie Moneys

Postby mygreenpajamas » Sun Oct 23, 2011 9:06 am

I searched for a thread like this here to no avail and I know there's a thread similar to this on DOA but it's kinda lame. I'm looking for ways to raise dollie funds. So far, I've sold most of my SDs and SD accessories to fund my mini and tiny project (call it downsizing). I'm a fulltime student so I don't have the time for a part-time job.

How do you make extra money for dollies and dollie things?

Save ALL my change. Also, take it to a bank, where they'll put it in coin rolls. They take the coins and give you an equal amount of bills, unlike CoinStar, which takes a percentage...
Last time I did this, I had $25 worth of QUARTERS!! And tons of dimes.

I second kurosu. Except I jack my man's change too. I'm nice though, I give him the big bills back. But I consider it my payment for picking up his nasty socks. Last time I gathered up all his laundry, I ended up with $65. XD My bank won't roll the coins for you though. >.< So I have to do it myself. I also do commissions for art. Eventually I want to do face-ups cuz I love painting dolliehs, but I don't have enough confidence in my abilities yet.... -thinks- I know there's other stuff but I can't think of it just this second.

I do commissions for family and friends, like jewelry or clothes, and squirrel away a few dollars every pay check. It's not much but it adds up.

i guess i'm just not confident enough in my skills to do commissions or sell my handmade goods for too much. we'll see. and Okami, I hear you about the whole man laundry thing. if i don't go through his pockets, i'll end up with cough drops or pen ink in my washer/dryer and in my clothes. so whatever i finds, i keeps. but it's never $65!

i just... i NEED more dollies!!!

I sell stuff on Amazon.com. DVDs, video games, books I don't read any more, even my old electronics I don't use anymore, ect.

Granted, Amazon does take sort of a steep a commission off anything sold, but I still get more than I would just giving it away or trying to sell it at a yard sale. And some of the stuff I sold I actually got more for than I'd have expected, like the old Sega Saturn game I sold for $56 because it was hard to find and in like-new condition.

Look around and just see what you have. You might be surprised at what you come up with that you'd be willing to part with for more dollies. :)

I'm a full time student with two part time jobs and an internship. I save whatever money I can for dolls. My boyfriend usually'll buy me one or pitch in a little money towards one for my birthday. I really try to bargain hunt for cheaper secondhand dolls. I managed to snag a Iplehouse JID Vito for $200 and a fully blushed and custom face-uped by Leahlilly Planetdoll Tara for $160. Both came with extra. The dolls I buy new tend to be less expensive or I do layaway. I've managed to acquire 7 dolls in two years.. so I've not done too bad...

I sell things on ebay. Mostly things from my anime collection that I'm not into anymore, or video games that I'm done with.
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

I'm a full time student with a part time job. I usually set aside a small amount of each paycheck for doll goodies. Prior to getting a job, I funded my hobby by doing rooting doll heads.

I'm soooo bad with money.. for me the goal isn't gathering dollie money, but gathering money to make up for the gap that my dollie purchases left lol. In a couple days I'll receive my very first salary for working fulltime and I kinda went crazy buying new dolls before I actually had the money. I'm a bit scared :P
