Princess Aurora Designer Princess Custom Doll

Postby SetsunaKou » Mon Oct 24, 2011 7:34 am

(Also posted in the Disney Princess Limited Doll thread, but I'm so excited about her, I had to post her in her own thread, too! ^^;;)

My sister and I just finished our 'custom' Designer Princess Aurora doll, since I was unable to get the official one when disneystore.com crashed as soon as they were finally released!!!

I NEVER, NEVER like Aurora in hot pink (I try to change all my dolls to either purple or blue), so I suppose after all, I'm glad of the chance to make her as I like her best----in purples, just like the Kingdom Hearts version! Plus, I used the 25% discount coupon Disneystore.com gave to disappointed customers on the remaining 5 'Singing' Princess dolls I needed to complete my set of them! So it all worked out for the best! ^^

I am SUPER pleased with her turnout and last week, bought her a musical revolving base that plays 'Once Upon a Dream' from the 'Musical Majesty' doll on eBay. When it arrives, she'll be complete! YAY!

Anyway, here are her photos without the musical base. My sister is so amazing with outfits! I love this doll so much!!!! I'm actually glad now I wasn't able to get the official doll---I would've been too scared to change her outfit, though I really would've wanted to!! :laughs: Luckily, they used the same head molds as their playline dolls, so I just removed her original faceup, copied the designer version style faceup instead, and added the long, real eyelashes on her. Her gown is made of bridal satin with a tulle underskirt/petticoat, milliskin shiny opera length gloves, and an embroidered style belt with many faux topaz/golden teeny gems all over her belt and gathered bodice.

Hope you like her, too!! Will add more photos with the base and box as soon as they arrive!!!!

Lovely! I have to agree with you on hot pink versus purple or blue.

Oh she's beautiful! This is gonna sound silly but what fairytale is Aurora from? I've never heard of her.

That's amazing! I wonder how alternate color versions of the other princesses would look. You could do Snow White in brown and white, Cinderella in pink, Ariel in green, Belle in dark pink, Jasmine in red, Pocahontas in tan, Mulan in royal blue/red, Tiana in blue and Rapunzel in pink.

She's lovely, and I agree the purple is so much nicer than the pink. I think she looks quite a bit better than the official doll does.

She's Sleeping Beauty. I think Disney is the one who gave her the name, but that's the fairy tale.

When you think about it two of the fairies fought over the color of the dress. She should be available in a blue version as will as the pink one.

Oh wow she is beautiful! I like all the dress colors(including the KH purple), the whole fairy squabble amuses me, they even put it in the Birth by Sleep Kingdom Hearts game(during the credits).

Thanks, everyone!!! I'm so so so happy you like her! I keep gazing at her as I work! :laughs: I really love her sooooo much!! I think she's become my favorite Aurora doll I own!!!

Yes, she's from 'Sleeping Beauty', and in the different versions of the fairytale, she has different names --- Charles Perrault didn't name her, but named her daughter 'L'Aurore' (Aurora) while the Brothers Grimm version called 'Briar Rose.' (Both names which Disney used----Briar Rose for her peasant name and Aurora for her princess official name). The other names used are 'Talia' and 'Rosebud' but I much prefer Aurora and so glad Disney chose that one!

Well, I always preferred the blue over pink gown, and then realized when I saw the KH purple version that it SHOULD be so----Pink + Blue = Purple! Then the arguing fairies could compromise and have a bit of both of their inputs into the mix!

So, now I'll think that's what happened at the end of the film-----they kept switching from blue, to pink, to blue, to pink and then at the end, finally combined and settled on purple.

I don't plan to do the other Princesses right now (Aurora is my favorite ^^) but if I do, I would definitely remake their colors to their image colors :

Rapunzel - pale-ish wine/plum
Jasmine - aqua/teal
Ariel - pink
Belle - Yellow/Gold
Pocahontas - Orange
Mulan - Red/Crimson
Snow White - Indigo
Tiana - Green
Cinderella - blue

Thanks again for your super kind comments, min'na-sama!! :hugs:

On another note, I did have a slight disappointment today------the display box and musical base I ordered for her arrived.....SMASHED and dented. :sigh: So now I have to return it, get a refund and go through a lot of rigmarole! Can you believe the time I want the BOX rather than the doll inside, it arrives smashed! :faints:

Well, I'll order another one from another seller and hope they can package it more safely!
