My first two BJDs are on their way!!!!!

Postby Evelien » Mon Nov 14, 2011 1:16 pm

I never thought I'd collect anything other than vintage 6" Pamela Love dolls. When I did, I never thought I'd buy any dolls bigger than 40cm, I never thought I'd buy Pullips because of their proportions, I never thought I'd spend too much money on a doll because part of the fun was finding them cheap... and I never thought I'd own resin BJDs.

Never say never. I have now officially done all of the above...

I fell in love with Asleep Eidolon Blueberry (MSD) at the Dutch Dolliverse BJD convention in June. I was low on funds though. I finally graduated at the end of June and I'm now working as a teacher. I thought I'd finally be able to buy my own Blueberry by the end of October, when I had some real bad luck financially. Seeing how disappointed I was, my boyfriend offered to buy her for me as a present for both Christmas and our 3 year anniversary, haha. DEAL!! I am terribly excited and anxiously awaiting her arrival, which probably won't be before 2012.

I ordered her in normal skin without a faceup.

Then... I kept surfing the DoA Marketplace like a madwoman. I don't know why. But about an hour ago, I found this ad for a Leira, a sculpt I've been admiring for a while as well:

Angell Studio Leira Milk:

$149 including shipping! Within Europe!! Which means no customs charges!!! That's hella cheap!!!!!!

I couldn't restrain myself... I bought her. Leira will be on her way to me first thing tomorrow morning from Austria. So there you have it. My first two BJD MSDs are gonna be with me really soon!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH what an awesome buy on that Leira! dang, that's a screaming good price >< wish I was in Europe hahahahaha

Yea, I've done that "surf DoA marketplace for no reason" thing...I end up with more dolls that way...

And congratulations on the Xmas/Anniversary doll - what a lovely thoughtful gift from your boyfriend! Yes, I'd say you are officially addicted!!!

Hahahaha I never thought I'd buy my second BJD before I'd have received my first, but hey, the word 'never' has lost its meaning altogether.

And yes it IS a good buy! I clicked the link thinking the price would be just for the head or something..! There's absolutely nothing wrong with the doll, she just wants money fast for some Xmas event so she's selling some dolls cheap fast... I'm just incredibly lucky I saw it so fast... One and a half hour after it had been posted only 8 people had seen it...

I love how Blueberry and Leira look like they will make perfect sisters!! ^^ And my boyfriend is amazing... He doesn't just tolerate my doll hobby anymore, he's actually supporting me... He actually offered to buy me Leira too when he saw my excitement, but I didn't want to accept a second expensive gift!!!

The only downside is that she will come from a smoking household. I'll have to do a search on getting the smell of smoke off of a resin doll...

Oh my goodness! Two! I'm so excited for you and can't wait to see photos of your new girls when they get here! I find it a little funny that we both got our first big dolls around the same time and yours was vinyl and mine was resin.... and now you are getting your first resin as I'm getting my first vinyl. :P
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

Haha you're right Almy!! That's too funny!

I was planning my second BJD to be a Bobobie Sprite, but I couldn't let this beautiful Leira pass me by for that amazing price... I've noticed that pretty sculpt before :D

And I *really* think they'll make a beautiful pair of sisters. They kinda look alike :)

@ catshem, thanks, don't be jealous, it's quite foolish of me haha. I have to say that Leira was an impulsive buy that will leave me broke for quite a while, but she's *so* worth it if you ask me... I won't see one of my favourite sculpts for sale in Europe for such an amazing price again soon... I decided to jump in and take my chance. Usually second hand dolls in Europe are much more expensive than second hand dolls in the USA, because of all the customs hassle and everything calculated in the price.

Customs must be obnoxious to deal with. But they keep the mail safe...? :P

So far they haven't ruined any packages of mine fortunately :). I've heard that German customs are worse. I've heard they will google the worth of old second hand dolls online to charge the addressee the jackpot.

It's the other way around... It happens when non-EU packages are sent to Germany.
