1/6 scaled musical instruments and weapons?

Postby MitisFeles » Wed Nov 23, 2011 1:09 pm

Hi! I'm actually in need of 1/6 scale equipment for my little adventurers. To be more precise, I'm searching for swords, bow/crossbow, daggers, and a lute or classical guitar or something similar for my bard. Parabox website has a cool miniature lute and mandolin for selling, but it is 18 cm long and it's too much for a 27 cm Obitsu. Someone has some good advices for places or sellers to search for?

18cm is way to big, so are those replica guitars sold on line. Start here http://dolfielittles.com/acc.html and here http://dolfielittles.com/accmusic.html

Most of the guitars are F Toys or sold as F Toys for a brand name and come from Ebay and any importer who sells Japanese capsule toys and Re Ment, the only drawback is most are 1/8 scale and look a bit small on some dolls. It just takes a bit of hunting to find the styles you want. The wood shapes for Jimmy's guitars came from a shop on Ebay, search for wood shapes and for guitar ornaments.

When I wanted a spear for my 27 cm obitsu, I went to ebay and searched '1/6 scale spear'. Taking a quick look for you... they have swords, a few bows, knives, and guitars.

Thanks very much for your advices! I tried to search "1/6 miniature" on eBay and unexpected but true, I find almost less than specifically search for "1/6 sword" XD I'm thinking about using two of these as swords for my incoming ranger:

Let's search for musical instruments...

The guitars are cute but there are only electrical one... what do you think of a banjo? (and a zombie survival kit XD)

I like the sword for the ranger... I saw the banjo, but wasn't sure if that would be something you'd want. It doesn't hurt to keep checking... you never know when some posts something new. If I'm hunting for something specific, I'll check every few days.

A Banjo would be different but my own opinion is it wouldn't work well for a Bard. This is just my opinion though. If you like it and it works for you then go for it.

With that said, a few days ago I was in one of my consignment shops that had a miniature bango with black case as well as a french horn and trombone. I can't remember the price and I don't know the size of it. But if you want me to check on, see if it is still there and get the price and size of it, I will.

@Yanagi: I like your method, it is mine too! I usually check periodically eBay when I'm searching for particular things (especially when I have little budgets like now ^_^'). For the reason stated by Moonwillow, the banjo doesn't really persuade me (I surely prefer a lute), but I included it in my mental list as a possibly alternative. Faye is actually dressed like some kind of piratess, and maybe the banjo can look better than expected.
@Dolliekim:The Jimmy's guitar wood shapes are interesting, but at this point I'll probably prefer to make my own instrument in balsa wood or similar by myself.
@Moonwillow: if checking prices and measurement of those miniatures is not a inconvenience for you, you'll be very welcome!

Have you looked at ornaments? They list the size and the price is usually reasonable. This link has a dulcimer and a couple of mandolins

http://www.christmasinprescott.com/banjomandolin.html

and here are guitars
http://www.christmasinprescott.com/guitar.html

I get my weapons from wartoys.com

swords
http://www.war-toys.com/search.aspx?find=sword

bows
http://www.war-toys.com/search.aspx?find=bow

knives
http://www.war-toys.com/search.aspx?find=knife
They have great service and fast shipping. I got Sunday's order in the mail today. They are having a great sale until tomorrow. It ends 11:59pm-11/24/11 - I got knives with sheaths for .81 each.

For weapons, check the 1/6 scale action figure sites where they break-apart sets and sell the pieces. Mostly they have guns (most action figures are modern era or WWII), but occasionally you can find swords and daggers, too. Even bows, arrows and crossbows. You can also sometimes find really nice ones on eBay.

For musical instruments, look for Christmas Tree ornaments. Seriously. Go check out any Christmas store -- those specialty shops at outlet malls or that pop up in malls this time of year. There are quite a lot of really nice guitars, and other instruments available. I haven't seen a real lute yet (with the curved back), but plenty of guitars, acoustic and electric, and other things. And often they come with CASES, which is really cool.

good luck!
