Can anyone tell me about the Bobobie/Resinsoul Feng or Long?

Postby sailor_ashes » Tue Dec 20, 2011 9:38 pm

Hi everyone! <3

I would really like a boy soon, and I was thinking about getting a Bobobie/Resinsoul Feng or long just cause I'm tight on cash. :P They have gorgeous face sculpts, and I think I could make something really great out of them. :3 I'm just worried about purchasing a Bobobie/Resinsoul doll because of how bad their posing is. I know I could just fix it, but I would rather just buy a better doll for a little bit more than invest all the money into just fixing the doll up. :/ Could anyone tell me about their bigger dolls from RS and BBB and how they pose? Or what they did to fix it? I really need to sleep on this, haha. xD

Thanks! <3

Ooh, I LOVE them!!!! I have seven and my sister has one of the RS 70cm boys and they're so perfect! I actually wouldn't WANT a different 70cm body for my guys!!

They pose really well once you tighten the strings (just have someone hold down his shoulders and then you pull really really REALLY hard and knot several times. Once they're tightened, they pose great!

For extra posability, we add wiring to their limbs. It lets them 'keep' and hold the poses. But this isn't just for the RS boys---we did this for all our resins, so even if you choose a different company/brand, you'd still probably need to wire him for really sturdy posing abilities. (Except for possibly the Dollzones---they hold their poses pretty well even without wire!)

I've noticed that RS recently upgraded their bodies to have double joints now! Seven of my boys are the originals, which I already thought were awesome and then the newest one, I just bought in July from JS, has real double joints in his elbows and knees! WOW! And they're so affordable, too! It's amazing!

I love their hands----so expressive, and their body sculpts are my favorite. They're super tall and slender, but with lots of muscletone. They're perfect for Anime character dolls. (Which 7 of mine are. My 8th is Gambit from X-Men) If you like tall and lean men, this doll's for you! ^.~

I used DD heads on my 6 anime guys, a Parabox anime head on my sister's anime guy, and a Dollmore head on my Gambit. So the body is super versatile for using/accepting all kinds of heads!!!!!

I absolutely adore them and do not regret buying them at all. I'd definitely buy them, all over again! ^^ 100% satisfied!

If you need to see photos, just let me know and I'll post some of my boys for you.

Thanks!
Hope it helped a little bit.

SetsunaKou, I am sitting here with my mouth open. Your dolls must have more clothes than any three other people's put together--not to mention all the Hey! Hey! Hey! outfits. How on earth do you do it?

SetsunaKou, I just have to tell you THANK YOU SO MUCH for the Gundam Wing love and
TROWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Thank you, I am done. You have made my fangirl heart weep with joy)

Sailor_ashes, I just bought a RS Long and I love him! I haven't had any more trouble posing him than I have any of my other strung dolliehs, though his sheer size after mainly owning 1/6th was a bit of a learning curve for me. He's a fun one, though. :) He's sitting headless n my shelf staring at me right now. XD

I have a few pics of my RS Feng in this thread (link)

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4372

There's nothing wrong with the posing, it's just the stringing can be a little weak. With a 20 minute (or less) restring and (maybe) sueding or kips, you'll be solid. :-)

I don't have the RS 70cm boy but I have the DollZone 70cm Chen and having seen Long in person I can tell you how they compare. Long looks like he's thinner than my Chen because of his long thin neck but when actually put side by side they're about the same. The Chen's torso and thighs are slightly thicker but not by much and the Chen's shoulders are just slightly broader. As far as posing, the Long I was looking at hadn't had his strings adjusted at all yet and his posing was the same as my RS Dai(58cm girl) before I restrung her so he was pretty floppy. I can also tell you that I had to do just as much work(restring and sueding) on my DZ Chen as I did on my RS Dai but with that little bit of work(about an hour) they both pose like a dream so I think you'd probably want to do that with any doll you got from any company. Long and Feng are both good looking boys and I can't wait to see who you end up bringing home!

My 70cm RS girl is, well, a girl, but I will tell you this: the "bad posing" of BBB/R dolls is not what it is cracked up to be. Individual dolls may post badly (the 50cm and 1/6 ranges) or not so great (the 1/4 BBB and original 1/4 girls with their irritating lack of ankle and wrist movement) but I certainly have Korean dolls that pose far worse than most of BBB/RS crew I've owned or played with. (My newest darling is a case in point!) My 70cm girl was back when the 70cm RS dolls were't double-jointed, and her posing is really not all that bad at all.

BBB/RS have moved into the "fashionable to bash" place DollZone used to occupy, which is a shame, because the sum total effect is a lot of newbies being made to feel bad that their beloved first doll is an RS Mei. I think a lot of the bashing is not fair critique - or not applied as evenly as critique of other companies. I own dolls from a lot of companies, and I love my BB/RS trio as much as any of the others.

At first my huge girl had difficulty because of the slickness of her resin and, I think, her height. Initially I hot glue sueded her (with a $5 hot glue gun) and that helped amazingly. Later I scraped off the glue, tightened (not replaced) her elastics a little, and popped some craft wire in her joints. Utterly incredibly difference. No problems with her posing now at all, for about $2. If they released another sculpt I loved in that size, I would so get another.

Even if you replace all the elastic, hot glue suede and add craft wire, it would cost you less than ten bucks all up - you'd never manage to spend as much money as a more expensive doll would cost. None of this would matter if he wasn't the sculpt your heart yearned for, but as he is - I'd say go for it, and don't worry overly much about spending a lot of money on fixing him!
