It originally was nothing like Black Friday. Originally it was the day that you boxed up all the stuff you weren't using/had replaced with Christmas gifts/had outgrown plus food, and gave it to the poor. Hence, Boxing Day. It was Christmas for people that didn't have any Christmas.
