I have enough WIPs going to keep me busy. Well, I thought it would make a cute doll house for my little girl dolls. It should be about as tall as they are. Once the idea popped into my head it was like they were haunting me. They were going "fairy house, fairy house." And picking colors yellow with metallic purple, metallic blue, and metallic turquoise and that's just for the outside. o.O I'll need to get or make stuff for in it.

omg, thats one of the houses my grandfather just tried to give to me, saturday xD it's really pretty and intricate in person... I'd suggest gluing the connecting parts, though, unless you want to take it apart, later.

I'm feel I'm at a bit of a creative crossroad at the moment. I have two pretty good ideas for a story lines that could eventually become a continuing photo story.

Story "A" follows the lives of a group of characters that live in our world but in a fictional country. A major plot point is that their country exists in a constant state of mutual antagonism with a neighbor, somewhat like say, Israel and Syria or North and South Korea. While it sounds like it could be a bit droll and soap-operatic, I've actually conceived it as a being fairly satirical and humorous. It also gives me a chance to incorporate my dolls into an existing background for the two "Imagi-Nations" I've created.

Story "B" takes some of the same characters (initially a smaller cast) and puts them in a sort of retro-tech setting. Think VSF/ Steam Punk but with the technology and over all "style" more along the lines of the '30s-'40s-'50s (some folks refer to this as Diesel Punk but I'm not entirely on-board with that name). The story would follow the crew of a commercial aircraft in a world that has a very developed counter-gravity technology. There would be very strong nods to media properties like Last Exile, Kow Yokoyama's Maschinen Krieger saga, Miyazaki's Daydream Notes series from Model Graphix magazine and possibly the Kerberos Saga as well. It isn't as "anime-manga fanboy-ish" as it sounds since I'm actually drawing from quite a bit from mid- 20th Century historical and fictional influences, which especially Miyazaki and Yokoyama have also been very influenced by.

You know, I pondered that for a while today and decided it was a good idea. What I think I'll do is present story A (which is much more developed) in a blog format while I continue to develop story B. If I can clear some "idea hurdles", story B can move forward as the background for a photo story series. Otherwise, story A is basically fleshed out and ready to go (hopefully).

I mulled over that for a while and felt concerned that I might muddle the narratives of the individual story lines too much. A more talented writer or simply someone more brave than me could probably pull it off (and it is a cool idea) but I'm not confident in my own abilities. As odd as it may sound, I want to try and down-play the fantasy/sci-fi elements in story B (although there's no way to avoid it entirely) while I fear that those elements would be difficult to incorporate in to story A's more or less "real world" setting.

Anyway, I have to thank both of you for your input because it really did help me shake out the cobwebs and focus a bit more. I appreciate the help!

A few other things....
I forgot to mention that my initial inspiration for the "airship saga" comes from the work of H.G. Wells, specifically his story The Shape Of Things To Come. There will be a dominant "super power" government based on the "Air Dictatorship" from this story, while my protagonists are independent air couriers who belong to something like the Vanship Union from Last Exile.

A few questions that I'm still trying to answer include what to name the "super power" government, what to call the "airships" and what to name the over-all story. Now, I'm off to do some research and hopefully answer those questions.
