Ok so I couldn't find all the pages, but I did find one, and two others I hadn't seen before. The general consensus is: fumes = bad but not deadly with normal use, but worse if the clay is burned, don't mix the utensils you use for food, with the ones you use for clay, and if you use your household oven, clean it with baking soda before using it for food. One of them recommended using a turkey roasting bag to help contain the plasticizers in the clay. Also, don't use the clay to make anything that comes in contact with food; ie: dishes.

Also if your going to sand polymer clays or carve after baking do it either outside or in a garage... Wear safety goggles and a face mask because the dust particles will circulate in the air and make your lungs burn and ache. And you REALLY don't want it in your eyes, if it gets in your eyes they will itch burn and hurt for several days, I also experienced unusually high levels of light sensitivity after the one time I got some of the powdery crap in my eyes, I wore sunglasses indoors even all that week.

However I still love premo and Sculpy. After ten years using only those two brands I wouldn't work with anything else.

Air dry clay works pretty well. I have used it for some things before. The best one that I have used is called, Makin's Clay. It doesn't crack and takes on a really nice smooth finish.

To my understanding, Polymer clay fumes can actually kill birds. Humans should be careful not to breathe in the fumes of baking polymer clay.

Those are great masks by the way! Mask always make people (and dolls) so mysterious! :D

Would you use the oven you cook in to melt plastic? Of course not. Having said that, you can easily contain the fumes from polymer clay by cooking in a roasting bag, in a paper bag or inside a clay pot (no holes) turned upside down on a clay saucer. If you have birds you should be extremely careful about ANYTHING that gives off fumes; if you don't have birds, you don't need to worry as much.

What a cute idea! Though it makes me wish I could take a pottery class just so I could make little masks out of clay!
