Hello from the middle of corn and bean fields

Postby absynthe1972 » Thu Jun 17, 2010 2:35 am

Hello everyone.

*ahem* I hate introductions because I'm not fond of talking about myself. (My dolls are more interesting. Trust me.)

I've been over at Junky Spot for, um, I can't remember when I finally created an account for the boards there. I know I was stalking the BBB's for the longest time, at least four years. My husband thought I was nuts. Now he's positive of it. Then again, he said he married me because he appreciates neurosis.

I've a job that I'm not thrilled with, but I've been there almost 14 years now. I live in Illinois - and there really aren't all that many dollieh happenings around here. I did take my BBB Chun (Aimee) to Hobby Lobby one day and the lady there SWORE I was carrying an anorexic blond child. :o I don't starve my dolliehs as they live on a solid diet of chocolate and 100 year old hootch. (I can't get them to take anything else in the way of drink or food. It's GOT to be 100 year old hootch and chocolate. Although, I might try tempting them with some Absinthe. I still have a bit left...)

Anyway, I love dolls of all kinds - I have a collection of porcelain dolls that were my grandmother's and my MIL's. I think that a couple of the MIL's dolls were HER mom's. I have a couple Tonner dolls (basic sculpt Shawna and Lanie). I have a single Hujoo, a few 1:6 scale Obitsus, a tiny BBB (Nissa-no horn, Queen Seren), an Ariel (Gerschy, previously Trippetta, - stay away from her - she has talking katanas that do nothing but argue - new development), my BBB Chun (Aimee) and I just ordered on layaway a grey Mu (maybe to be named Damocles) from Denver Doll, and ordered a silver wig for him. Now I'm just in a quandary over eyes and the face up as, well, I'm still writing his story. Is it possible for dolliehs to talk to you BEFORE they even arrive?

Since there aren't many bjd conventions in the area that I've found or the ones that are somewhat close to us don't coincide with a football schedule (it's year round here - we live/eat/breath football in our small town) or with school, I tend to make my own adventures around town, drawing some rather odd looks in the process.

Ummmmmmmm............

Hubby is the only one who really, almost but not quite understands the dollieh addiction I have. My family doesn't get it other than my grandmother who LOVES my Chun, Aimee. :D My boys get all flustered when I have the girls out and they're in their exhibitionist stages (meaning I'm sewing for them so I have nekkid resin on the dining room table until I get the outfit finished). It doesn't help that I blushed Aimee's headlights.

I thought I was going to end up with good girls...and ended up with a Hujoo who's in love with a guy whose last hit was a tree (she's in love with Marc Bolin from T-Rex, sorry 'bout the joke but a friend who came over from Liverpool blessed her with that fixation), an elf (Ariel/Gerschy) who found a couple of talking swords early one morning in the ivy of the front yard and won't let them go. She's been trying to stick Ollie (the Hujoo) in a gilded cage with a 1/2 dozen skeletons (saying, "HERE'S your dead guys!") and Aimee...who, well, she's changing her name to Nute because, OMG. Blame the husband for this - she's "evil, wicked, naughty Nute" who likes spankings. *sigh*

The 1:6 scale Obitsus are the minions (ie: servants) to Queen Seren. If Queen Seren doesn't get her way, she's apt to toss a few magic missiles at them so they can "Beweg deinem Arsch!" Queen Seren also happens to have two small, green dragons for her pets. They like everything to be covered in A1 steak sauce. Forget ketchup. It MUST be steak sauce. And the cats we have in the house? The dragons and Queen Seren refer to them as "stir fry". I think it's just because they knocked her out of bed one night and then sat on her until the next morning.

Oh, I forgot to mention they all pretty much speak in German, which can get to be rather frustrating, especially when they steal my iPod and load it full of Rammstein (the first couple of albums were okay, the latest one? *shudders*) and a few other German bands. At least it's not polka. Oh...and the other fixation is zombie movies. I caught them watching 'Boy Eats Girl' the other night with my youngest son (he's 14). They were all sitting around the computer watching yet another zombie movie.

And since I've been suffering through a resin addiction, I've actually taught myself how to sew, sort of. I'm still learning.

Anyway, that's it.

So, hi. *waves* ;)

Hi! I love the descriptions of your dolls. You did a much better job than I did in my introduction. I only talked about my Shriara http://www.dolliehsanctuary.com/sanctuary/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=648. So, do you have pictures or better yet photo-stories of your wild group of dolls.
My husband and son are rather bewildered by the doll invasion at our house. Since all my girls have "blushed headlights", I made them lingerie to hang out in-so my husband and son would stop burying them in fabric. LOL

Welcome over to the Dark Side....I mean the Sanctuary LOL. I do believe i recognize your dollieh descriptions from over in Jspot :) Oh - and congratulations - you are our 125th member! I like to acknowledge those milestones when I see them (I missed 120 :( ).

As you'll notice, a lot of the same people over here, we just talk about a lot of other dolls as well as our jspot ones

Photo spamming is always appreciated as well :)

My boys do the same thing, cover the dolls up in either bath towels, material or blankets. ;) I'm so totally addicted to dolls it's not funny. I have a few (!) photos of them saved to the hard drive. I'll sort through them and post a few. I have stories, not photo stories as of yet...the newest one is still in the works. I've been suffering insomnia for the last week and been using the notepad feature on my iTouch to write out a rough draft. I'm not going to bother with lingerie. They'll just either have to get covered in material or I can leave them nekkid in the bedroom while I'm not sewing.

I still haven't told hubby about ordering Mu. *oops* ;D

And maywong and Iwa_Hoshi: Thank you for the welcome!

Welcome to the Dark Side. We have chocolate here! lol! I love that. Yeah, I've got a few descriptions over at JunkySpot. My favorite spot to lurk and drool over the BBBs.

YAY! I'm 125! lol! That's a cool number. ;D

Glad you like photo spamming! Thank you!

Thanks! And I really couldn't watch Boy Eats Girl because I was trying to eat...and my youngest son kept giving me descriptions of crunchy bones, wet sucking blood noises and *blech* all the other gory details. I don't mind a good (or even BAD!) zombie movie. I just can't take it any more while eating. lol!
