I've tried sculpting before with a couple of half way decent nonhuman results but mostly they're not worth a photo. I've signed up for an online doll making class in March. http://www.aforartistic.com/sculpting-doll-airclay.html I've seen her dolls in magazines and like the style. I'm looking forward to it.

I ended up taking a little impromptu walk down to the big comic/movie/action figure store on the edge of Downtown (three floors, big floors, it's a little like heaven) juuuust in case they'd somehow aquired one of the 4-inch Mighty Morphin Power Rangers figures I need to complete my team, and instead...I somehow ended up walking out with an awesome eight-inch Gambit with two extra right hands, his staff, charged cards that he can be posed either holding or throwing and a little set (that unfortunately doesn't have a stand but whatever). So cool. Gambit was always my favorite X-man. Mine actually has a varient hairstyle, flat and down rather than spikey and up. Not as well articulated as I'd hoped he'd be, but he stands well and when he's got the thrown cards piece in his hand it looks really cool. I need to take some pics in better light, the ones I tried in my room didn't really turn out.

...now I just need to find a place to put him. >_>

Okay, to make a long story short, my husband was shorted a paycheck last summer that we didn't notice (long, long story). Payroll brought it to our attention a couple of weeks ago and we got the check today. Basically, I had received insurance from a death in the family, so we honestly didn't realize it was missing (auto-deposit issues while changing banks, etc, etc). I remember thinking we must have just spent more money on our vacation to Florida than we intended so it's great to find out we hadn't!

I have gloss again! Also matte varnish. Arrived in the mail today. I'd be repainting Ariel's nails right now if we weren't waiting for someone to drop off some papers. And I can gloss Toralei's eyes and do her mani/pedi. Maybe sometime in the next week I'll try to very carefully wipe and repaint her lips too.

Also, I keep a small collection of roses made out of various materials, and at a fleamarket today at my church I found one dipped in 24K gold for $5. It is very shiny. The girl I bought it from said it was a gift from an ex. And I finally got out a proper vase to put them in instead of an old Bawls bottle, and it's got a porcelain rose on the front. In addition to those I've got copper, wood, leather, felt and a plain old run of the mill artificial red rose. They're pretty.

I just filed my taxes.
Due to reasons mostly beyond my control this was the first time I've ever owed, and I was sooooooo worried that I hadn't put enough aside. My panicked mind was telling me that I'd owe 2 to 3 times the amount I had earmarked for them.
Thankfully my panicked mind was wrong and the government even left me with a bit of money!

While it's not the splurge of a giant refund amount, I think I may bring home a small someone that I've had my eye on with a bit of the leftovers.

Since we had a bit more money in our account, my husband and I went clothes shopping this afternoon. And I found a pair of jeans that fit and feel good! Woot!
