@TheShadow - I am overwhelming impressed and jealous of your set set-ups. They're incredible! Also thanks for the tip about the product caps. I never would have thought of that!

Nothing makes me angrier than people having props I don't have. I have the microscope, but not the flask, funnel, and beakers....
Hmmmmmmm (I know Resu lives in the Bay Area.............that's not too far from where i live.....

And yeah, that means YOU Greyhaunt and that little shopping cart.

Truthfully, I'm 57 years old and been addicted to little things since forever. Literally 50 years ago, my great-aunt gave me a perfect little six pack of Coca-Colas for Christmas, and it just astonished me. So I've been addicted ever since. I have a few things from childhood, but most of it has been picked up in the last ten years or so.

Just keep your eyes out for small things- it's amazing where you find them:
Toy Stores (duh)
Gift and knick-knack shops (little mugs, random tiny tourist things)
Tobacco shops (I picked up a little sixpack of Corona beer at a Tobacco Shop on Union Square, SF)
Hardware store (some lighters are shaped like really cool things- like a fishing pole)
Staples and Office Depot- things like little metal trunks, tiny notebooks, etc.
Grocery store (found a great cast metal rifle- perfect SD size, hanging on the toy display at my local grocery store; found a perfect little grater hanging near the spices at Safeway)
CostPlus-World Market- check their toy section, but also look in their housewares or gift departments for things like little strainers, graters, etc.
Ebay- beds, tables, chairs, random items. DON'T look under BJDs and Dollfies, if you are looking for something specific, just look under the general Dolls and Bears heading. Also- don't forget non-doll categories like collectibles (my little mixer is actually a vintage salt and pepper shacker). A lot of salt and pepper shakers from the 50s and 60s are shaped like miniature things.
Candy stores: look for miniature games, like Mr. Potato Head, Scrabble, Operation, etc. that are actually key chains.
Ross/Marshall's- sometimes they have perfectly-sized upholstered chairs or couches in their "home decoration" department, NOT the toy section because they are clearly labeled "Not a toy".
Michael's Art Supplies/JoAnn Fabrics- check the home decor section or the garden section for little chairs. Always be sure to check the $1 special bins.
CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS!!!! This is the jackpot of little things to use as props! So many miniature things are made as Christmas tree ornaments. Just take off the hanger and voila! Little thing! My favorites are the little wine bottles, ice cream sundaes in fancy dishes, Martha Stewart dishes and kitchen utensils, etc.
Antique and vintage stores, thrift stores: Just keep an eye open anytime you walk into one of these. The toys from the 50s and 60s are often perfect scale for BJDs.

I absolutely love finding tiny things. It is so much fun to be out shopping and come across a miniature item. I always think, "that's just perfect for..." Keychains are always fun. I've found so many keychains, souvenir trinkets, etc. that work really well. Of course, there's always my shrink-ray, that comes in handy too. :-p

I've found treasures at the Goodwill shops near me -- especially the "clearance" store where everything not sold at their regular retail outlets is dumped into bins and sold by the pound. Sometimes it's a real free-for-all but I've discovered lots of goodies.
Bear with me while I think of something profound to put here...

claws: American Girl has some very nice books : http://www.americangirl.com/index.php
They also have quite a few other props which wind up working for 'our size' dolls.

TheShadow: wow. just 'wow'. O_O .

These little books are shown with a 1/4 boy instead of 1/3, but I just HAD to post them. I got them at the Dutch store Wibra for 12 eurocents each!!! I bought 17, I can put new covers on them myself ^^

i usually find things at antique stores. also, the neighbors and relatives, and friends know that i 'do the dolls', so therefore many people give me adorable dollie props.

I really like the doll sized fans. If I ever find anything like this in South Africa, I think we will have snow in Durban!

I'd like to add more to it eventually.

I love the setup here -- the microscope is so cute! I think that, if 10 ml Erlenmeyers are good for 1/3rds, then 5 ml ones should be pretty good for 1/4ths (and 2 ml ones for 1/6ths, if you can find them). I've seen a lot of small labware at university surplus stores. They all run about $0.50 a pop at my local one, and there are even things like small mortars and pestles.
