ordered some msc and other supplies! Huzah! I'm also about to check out some fabric. big girlie is getting a makeover and wardrobe! hmmm I'd better get around to selling these pukifee faces off before I try buying them new bodies. I keep wanting to try this fur seal plate on a 21 cm obitsu. So so tempting.

Yay real jobs! :D I'm jealous.

I just came home from The Secret World of Arrietty. SO CUTE. I love Miyazaki's films. And now I want to make an Arrietty doll because half the film there was a corner of my mind constantly wondering just how tall she really was because, really, who here wasn't trying to figure out which size doll would be most appropriate? XD An 11cm might be the closest height, but a 21cm would have the right proportions...hmm.

In theory... yes... but it's often so expensive that I went years without insurance when I was a substitute teacher.

Congrats on the job!

Especially one with benefits!

Evelien, the US does not have national health insurance. As a consequence, you either have to hope that you can get a job that offers health insurance as a benefit (part time jobs and many minimum wage jobs do not, nor do jobs in small stores or companies of less than 50(?) people) or make enough you can pay for it yourself.

As a freelance writer I have to pay for my own insurance. Let me put it this way, I could buy 3 Sooms a month with what I pay a month for health insurance. But with a husband with diabetes I have no choice.

I get to add to the job joy--Sears hired me today! To be honest, they hired me after my first interview but still had to go through the motions. I start orientation in March!

Everyone here pays for their own health insurance, whether they have a job or not... We pay around $150 a month for it. How much is it in the US if you don't have a job..? And how much is it if you DO have a job? I'm curious.

I know the health insurance system is different in the US, but I'm not sure how different. I'd love to know more about it.

You don't want to know how much health insurance is in the US, or how messed up the whole system is. I'm a citizen of limited means who has a government issued plan which can deny me medication and treatments and I can't get a strait answer if I can get a visit to a dentist or eye doctor covered. Part of the issues are the uninsured who can go to a hospital, public hospitals have to treat everyone, instead of a doctor they can't afford and get all sorts of treatments they don't pay for. People like my smother with money issues get upset at the thought of having to pay for something mandatory health care.

Personally I don't know what to think. Generally I'm healthy and if I didn't have my back problems the only reason I would have visited in the last 6 months would have been for my allergies.
