I understand. People with lower incomes get extra help to pay for health care btw, I forgot to mention that. I still get help too since I only just graduated last year and my income isn't exactly steady yet. I get around a $100 a month to help me pay for my health insurance.

I wouldn't want it any other way but then again I'm used to it this way, it's always been this way here for as long as I can remember :). There's always the possibility of getting cheaper health insurance with less coverage and more risk.

XD An 11cm might be the closest height, but a 21cm would have the right proportions...hmm.

Ditto! I have an old dollhouse that I want to make look like a borrowers with things like stamp wall art and pin cushion chairs. :D

Depends on what version you want to go with I think? The Secret World of Arrietty is based on the book series, The Borrowers. In the movie it says they are 10cm(or 4inches), but in the book they describe the father being as tall as a pencil...and some of the summaries of the books say they are around 15cm. So I think you could go either way with the 11cm or 21cm, I think they both would look good. :D

I need to actually read the books one of these days. >_> I'd like to make her closer to 10/11cm because they're obviously doll-house scale but the proportions of, say, the 11cm Obitsus just wouldn't look the same. Making the house is half of why I want to make a Borrower doll, too. XD

Go with 21cm, easy to find in Obitsu and they look small enough IRL to work. Otherwise I would suggest 1/12 dollhouse scale for ease of finding stuff.

I don't know what people with jobs pay on average for their coverage. I do know that private health insurance is insane. I am 62 with some health issues and a husband with diabetes and other health issues, and we pay $2500 a month for the two of us. No, I didn't make a mistake with the zeros. That is what we pay. We don't even have a particularly wonderful policy. But we can't switch because his diabetes and the complications would not be covered ("pre-existing" conditions are not covered by new policies).

Friends of ours who couldn't afford insurance put off having his cancer treated until he turned 65 and he could go on Medicare (the old-age health coverage you pay for with taxes until you retire, but which doesn't kick in until 65), and the result of that is that he is in the hospital right now as the cancer spread.
