The Dark Roasted Blend site has some great Steampunk and Dieselpunk visuals.

I've done a couple of steampunk outfits for MSD and SD, I'm planning more, I am working on a steampunk notebook bag starting from a vintage WWII Belgian Air Force map bag and I Rosemary Edghill and I have a steampunk/wild west book coming out this year from Bloomsbury, "Dead Reckoning."

Yep, although as I've mentioned either here or over at JSF, I never cared much for the term "Dieselpunk". That's the era that I found more interesting than the neo-retro-Victorian background of Steampunk. Some movies and media that typify the Dieselpunk genre would include the first three Indiana Jones movies, Sky Captain, The Rocketeer, the first Hellboy and recently, Captain America. Valkyria Chronicles, the multi-media video game/anime/manga series is another great example as are Miyazaki's Porco Rosso and his unrealized Enter The Multigun Tower anime project, originally published as a one-off manga in the magazine Model Graphix. While set in a vague future, the anime Soro No Woto (Sound Of The Sky) has a very definite WW2 European feel to it and Japanese artist/ modeler Kow Yokoyama's Maschinen Krieger series draws a lot of influence from WW2 as well.

Gear (my Hujoo Wings) has a Steampunk eye, but he's not really a steampunk-style doll...
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

I don't think I'm going to do much steampunk stuff after all. From what I've learned, it's too much work. >.< And I haven't had any good experiences with any steampunkers yet.

Anything worth doing is work. Maybe think of Steampunk and all that as a past that never was and let your imagination go from there.

Any hobby is going to attract fan dumb, don't get mired in that and do what makes you happy.

Well I must admit that most of the Steampunk crowd are Makers, and they do look down on people who profess to be Steampunk but then turn up in stuff that is mass-produced without any attempt to do original work on it. They don't mind at all if you are not handy and go and BUY stuff from other Makers, but they prize individuality.

MLatch, I like DecoPunk rather than DieselPunk.

Decopunk sounds good, isn't that about the same time as the Jazz Age? And I can see the maker's POV when OOAK work is a big part of the hobby. It still seems worth the effort, I'm still going forward with making a case for young Holmes and Watson that looks Victorian first with touches of Steampunk. The original idea was an airship gondola but doll practicality is winning out.

Found that video that explains a lot about Steampunk http://youtu.be/TFCuE5rHbPA

My Angelsdoll is planned to have some steampunk elements, since his character's latest storyline takes place in that sort of world. I have a sketch for a steampunk costume for myself I want to make, when I have time. But I've never actually done anything with either plan yet, so I don't know how much it counts.
